For those of you who are new to this type of forum, or simply might be having some trouble wrapping your head around everything, here's an easy guide on how to make a character for Age of Heroes! Virtually everything will be linked so you don't have to ask "well where do I find something". All links will be underlined.
Step 1: Read the Setting and Plot! This will give you a brief overview of the world your character will live in and what's going on. If you want you can also check out the descriptions for the RP boards, if you're a little more curious about a specific location.
Step 2: Pick a Race and Class. These are both important steps since they will affect what you might be like and what you can do. If you're having a bit of trouble deciding on a combination, perhaps take a look at the Canon roles. You might find a particular canon role that's available that you're interested in, and many of them are certain races and/or classes, which can help the decision-making process.
Step 3: Think of some Skills or Abilities you might like to have. You don't really need to pick them now, but if you have an idea of what you want to do it may help flesh out your characters likes or dislikes, as well as what they might be good or bad at.
Step 4: Familiarize yourself with the Combat System we use on Age of Heroes. It will do you some good to know if you're intending to do some fighting, and it may also help further figure out what combat role you might want to fill (things such as tank, or mage, or healer, or damage-dealer).
Step 5: Fill out the Character Sheet and post it in the appropriate board. If you only filled out part of it, post in the Work In Progress board, and if you have it all filled out then post it in the Pending board. If you post in Work In Progress and then finish it, post in the Notification thread to let us know its ready to be moved to Pending and reviewed.
Step 6: Once your character is approved, you need to formally decide on your Skills and Abilities. For reference, any new character will have 1 Racial Skill and 1 General Skill. You will also have any bonuses from your Class, such as a Skill or Ability, or may be even some kind of item. You may also have a bonus from your Canon role if you got one.
Step 7: Decide on your Starting Weapons. All new characters have up to 2 Tier 1 Weapons starting out. This is to allow some variety if you wish, but you do not have to take both if you don't want to or don't think it fits your character. You may have bonus items from your class, so make sure to check that out. The above link goes to the Gold Shop, where you get all your items including weapons, armor, and consumables, as well as others.
Step 8: Once you have decided on your skills, abilities, weapons, and whatever else you might start out with, fill out a Character Inventory. Make sure you have a link to your Inventory somewhere if you intend to do questing.
Step 9: You're done! Get to roleplaying, may be go on a quest, do whatever! Pat yourself on the back and enjoy your time here~
