Lance Ackerman
pesky bee
HUMAN | 24 | MALE |
NEUTRAL GOOD | MAGE | ADVENTURER |
appearance, Lance is somewhat tall at 5 foot 11 inches, he's fair skinned, with gray eyes. He keeps his black hair at a medium length, and normally pulls it back into a small ponytail when he's out and about. He has broad shoulders, but not so much in the muscle department, so he's somewhat weak strength wise. Lance is also one of those people who's resting expression looks rather, depressed, regardless of how he's actually feeling. He normally dresses in darker colors, and layers. He refuses to wear anything bold or flashy in order to not stand out too much. However he does have a habit of layering too many bracelets on at once. Though he's not a fan of metal jewelry so it's all mostly leather, hemp, ext. He also always carries a satchel with him, to keep his stuff in instead of using pockets. | personality, Light-hearted and cheerful, Lance is a rather bright individual. He's a very curious person, who enjoys traveling for no other purpose but to see things. He's around average when it comes to socializing and is very much a people person. Once he gets comfortable around someone he'll never shut up. Sometimes even getting a little too loud and obnoxious. The only social thing he has issues with is crowds. It's a sensory overload for him, and he tries to avoid them at all costs. He tries to help people out, but the best thing he's done is help someone with groceries. And even then he fell on his face. Lance has issues with staying in one place for too long, he has to keep moving or he gets very stir crazy. Lance can get overly emotional quickly and easily. When he's upset his mouth has almost no filter whatsoever. This leads to petty jabs, dragging out people's dirty laundry and beating dead horses. He holds grudges to the point of ridiculousness, and is very pig-headed when it comes to his beliefs. Lance has never really cared much for violence; and tries to avoid it when possible. However, he isn't unwilling to get into fights if necessary. On other thing is he refuses to kill. Regardless of the reason; which can lead to sticky situations and rat problems. |
history,
Lance was born and raised in the outskirts of Andor. His parents were kind, honest people who kept to themselves for the most part. They had originally wanted a large family, but due to their older ages, they were lucky enough just to have one child. So the household consisted of him, his parents, and a goat. Lance's father spent most of his time working, so naturally he became more attached to his mother. In fact, he spent most of his childhood trailing behind her and attempting to do everything she did. Magic wasn't something that ran in the family, so it was a bit of surprise when lizards with various strange appendages started to show up around the house. Lizards which exploded at the lightest touch. They were delighted by their son's abilities but, slightly disturbed on how he choose to use them. It soon became a major problem when Lance started trying to enchant the family goat. So to try and curve the behavior they banned the use of magic inside the house. Which left a massive loophole, that Lance took advantage of, because “It wasn't inside the house, so it's technically not against the rules.”
Besides the magic, much of his early life was uneventful. Things stayed relatively quiet as he reached his late teens, and then he started to get antsy. Lance was tired of his current living situation. He felt like he was missing out. There was an entire world out there and he was stuck here. In the same community, around the same people and the same scenery he had been around his entire life. His parents were starting to get to up there in age. Soon his father wouldn't be able to work as much, and they'd really need his help. And once that happens, he'd never be able to leave until they pass. So that's when he decided he'd go out and do some adventuring before it was too late. See the world, meet people, and just experience life. Even if that meant abandoning his aging parents.
However Lance couldn't just leave them entirely, he had too much of a heart for that. He came to the conclusion that he'd send them things, anything really that he gathered on his travels, as well as letters. So on his 20th birthday, after gathering everything he would need and what little money he had saved up; he broke the news to his mother. She didn't attempt to stop him, the shock of it was a bit too much. She was under the impression Lance was happy with the way things were. Not to mention being told the day of he was leaving was horrible on it's own.. Lance didn't stay long after that, he left quickly in order to avoid any emotions and his father. Not to mention he was also too excited at the time to take his mother's feelings into account.
The first two years were hell, Lance barely had enough to get along, but refused to turn back around, and lied in his letters to his parents saying all was well. Soon he started to take odd jobs as he traveled in order to survive better. Year three he finally managed to find a good balance between the traveling, working, and exploring. He was able to start sending more than just letters home. However, unknown to him, his parents had passed in an accident. So he continues to write, send gifts home, and talk about how he can't wait to head home to visit them.
Completely oblivious to the fact that there isn't anyone left.
other:
He will literally eat you out of house and home if you let him.
He's also allergic to bees, a discovery he made when he ate one.
