Appearance

Taira no Izu stands in at a height of 5' 4", being somewhat short by usual standards. Her appearance could be described as an embodiment of the sakura blossoms that are natural to her homeland. Her hair is dyed in pink and shoulder length along with a black ribbon. She wears pink fashion that originates from her homeland called a kimono, along with a crimson sash and pants that she refers to as hakama. She wears a matched pair of curved blades around her waist that she calls a "daisho", or a matched set of swords known as a katana and wakizashi individually. Notably, although she looks primarily human, Taira no Izu is infact a beastfolk. The signs of her heritage are actually small, being only slitted golden eyes and a forked tongue that she rarely shows. Perhaps it is fitting that the signs of a snake are quite subtle.

Personality

While not necessarily bad natured, it is hard to deny that Taira no Izu has a certain manipulative quality to her. Perhaps it is because of her nature as a snake beastfolk, but her mind works in devious ways. Always plotting and scheming, the youngest of the Taira daughters is also regarded as the most cunning of them. Through methods fair and foul, she will work to find out whatever she desires and anyone that gets in her way earns only ire. As such, she is not one who cares for the concept of "honor" and finds it an outdated practice. When it comes to fights, both literal and metaphorical, this shows in particular in the way she will use whatever dirty means she can in order to win.

Yet not everything with Taira no Izu is so machiavellian. When she finds a person she likes, be that in a romantic or friendly sense, Izu has a habit of not being shy. She shows her favor through gifts and kindness in particular. Worth noting as it benefits her current occupation, Izu is quite curious about cultures outside of her homeland's own and Terra has proven rather interesting so far. The humans of Andor and their Representative in particular consume her current bout of curiosity. Perhaps because of this, a darker side of her personality has begun to show in the sometimes creepy way she asks after the Humans' political leader.

History

Taira no Izu within the bounds of Terra is a relatively unknown Ambassador who hails from abroad and has taken a particular interest in the city-state of Andor. Within the bounds of her homeland though, Taira no Izu is the fifth and youngest daughter of the Shogun who commands all military power within the nation's border. Taira no Minekata is second only to the Emperor and commands a respect that is also second only to the Emperor's own. As such, he puts a great amount of weight upon the concepts of "honor" and "family". However, when it comes to his fifth daughter, the Shogun's patience is tried. Deemed the "wild child" among her family, Taira no Izu inherited her mother's cunning along with her father's might. Prone to wild mood swings as a child and devious acts as a teenager, the father found his daughter to be a problem when it came to things dealing with politics. But as she finally grew to be a young woman, Taira no Minekata found out just how devious his youngest daughter had actually become. With a cunning mind that always sought to get ahead, she would figure out the machinations of court and Daimyo alike. Where once she seemed a political detriment, she was quickly rising to be his best asset.

However, he began to realize that perhaps she would best be used away from his court. Relations with the foreigners they'd encountered some couple hundred years ago now were still ongoing and the Ambassador to the human city-state of Andor was on the verge of retiring. Nominating Izu for the position, she would go on to fill the role for the older ambassador. Taken under the wing of experienced politicians afterwords, she would learn from them for a time before finally setting off for Terra.

Upon arrival, she was greeted by the head Emissary who doubled as the Daimyo of their city upon the shore of a foreign land, Gaikokumachi. There she remained until the retiring Ambassador of Andor arrived and took her under his wing for a time as well. He recounted the political side of business as well as notes about the Terrans' culture and other particulars that Taira no Izu would need to be aware of for her new position. And then he took her with him back to Andor. The old ambassador introduced his successor to the Representative and her Seconds. From there she began to learn more about them first hand. Of particular note was the lady who served as the leader of the Humans. In due time, the old Ambassador left for good, finally retiring back in the homeland to lead a life of deserved ease. And Izu became the official Ambassador to Andor in his stead, intrigued and quite thoroughly interested in her new line of work.

Other Information

-Enjoys smoking opium due to it's medicinal qualities. She's careful to not get addicted to it.
-Taira no Izu has four older sisters, three older brothers, and one younger brother.
-Izu arrived in Andor approximately 1 year ago and took over as Ambassador proper approximately 7 months ago.
