Hilda BRandr
Crimson Halberdier
Human | 32 | Female |
Lawful Good | Warrior | Human Representative |
history,
Hilda was born as the eldest child to Eadwulf and Hild Brandr, named after her mother. She would later end up with two younger brothers but they would not come along until Hilda was around six years old. By then, Hilda had already demonstrated a favor for more athletic activities. Eadwulf was a member of the guard in Andor and figured that even if Hilda would end up married to another family, knowing how to defend herself would be a good skill to have. That was how Hilda's training in combat began, and from there it continued when she not only enjoyed it but spent quite a bit of her time doing it. She played sword fighting with sticks with some of the other kids though she was the odd girl out. She did end up actually being one of the better fighters though, frequently winning against the boys.
When she was of age she chose to apply to the Andorian guard, finding it to be the best use of the skills she'd built up to that point. Her father was a good man and well liked among the guard, and Hilda herself demonstrated a good amount of skill. Since her father was still one of the guard, the two were paired together on patrol in the beginning. It gave him time to teach her the ropes of actually being a guard and in their down time continue her training. From there the two volunteered to move into the outer wall patrols, fighting off Phantasms and beasts roaming near Andor that threatened travelers and traders. While it was a more dangerous position, it gave much more time for application of all her training. There were some petty thieves every now and then in the walls, the occasional larger crime, but overall it was somewhat calm at the time.
It was while doing this job they were the first on site to aid in the defense of Andor against a siege of goblins leading a team of ogres to the walls of the residential district. At the time the current Representative was away for a High Council Meeting with their Seconds and so the highest ranking military authority was the captain of the guard. Her father initially volunteered to stay behind while she ran to alert him, but she managed to convince him that he was going to be a faster runner than her. On top of that, if the guards saw him running they would likely react quicker than if she were. Thus, she stayed to fend off the initial waves, shortly joined by another patrol that heard the commotion. They managed to hold the line long enough for reinforcements from the rest of the guard to arrive and as a group force, take down the ogres. The goblins, out-manned and out-gunned by this point, opted for the safe route and fled. While it was not her lone effort that saved the day, she was hailed as the vanguard of the defense. It earned her quite a reputation with the guard, especially for a new recruit, and her career took off from there.
Not too long after, she was sent by the Captain to report to the Court Mage a fund shortage for new armor. While discussing the financial matter, the Representative came down to discuss an unrelated matter and the two had a chance to meet. Hilda was told that the Representative had heard of her actions during the goblin siege and was impressed not because of her skill, but because of her willingness to do what needed to be done. It was a small conversation, but it was one that would make a difference in the years to come, and it was something of a proud moment for her to be recognized even by the Representative.
A few years later, it came time for the voting to determine who the Representative would be. At her father's encouragement due to her good reputation with the guard, Hilda decided to join the running. It was during the process of gathering the votes from the people that the current Representative vouched for Hilda as opposed to the other candidate, which when combined with her service record and reputation, pretty much secured her the spot. The vote was tallied and re-tallied, and Hilda was marked the new Representative for the Humans.
Two years have passed since she was elected and though she hasn't had time to do much, she's made a good name for herself so far.
