The sun was still high in the sky by the time that the red clad merchant arrived in the small town of Verdan. It was a nice little pit stop on the scenic plains of Terra. Close to Dracon, though far from the City-States. It made for a preparatory stop before full departure from Dracon or a nice rest before heading on towards the city of the Hero King. Nonetheless, the arms merchant known as Marie St. Claire was coming from Dracon and heading off to Andor on this little business trip. All the red cloaked young woman needed here was to get in contact with the bodyguard she'd hired from that guild in advance. She'd been told to expect a Beastfolk of some sort and while she wasn't given a solid description, the contact would certainly have no trouble in spotting the red hooded individual that toted around a large scythe. Marie looked like she belonged in a story of the "Grim Reaper", a folklore figure that represented death. And perhaps that image was what gave her the nickname of the "Merchant of Death".
Regardless, her first true stop in the town had been a local tavern to get something to eat. Now she was on her way back to the caravan to make sure that everything was in order before they departed once more. A final count of inventory and making sure they had enough food and so on. The usual tedium and not much more. Rumors had it that some bandits were on the road recently, but whether that was true or not, she'd soon find out. Hopefully this sellsword she paid for would be worth their salt.

| Being an adventurer wasn't always what it was cracked up to be. Brielle often went nights without food or the money for food. Despite the plethora of raidable tombs and ruins, she hadn't found a skilled enough group to join to break into those. So most days she spent as a freelancer in several guilds. One of those guilds had sent her here, a little dust town far enough outside of Dracon to not be considered it's outskirts. Apparently for some brilliant reason she was considered for a job as a bodyguard for some merchant.
The description of her ward was easy enough to remember. Just look for the woman in the red coat. Shouldn't be too difficult to find someone like that in this town. Most of the townsfolk wore simple colors and no one she could see wore a cloak in the style of Death's. No one until she saw a vibrant shade of scarlet exit what was probably the only tavern in Verdan. Following it back to the merchant caravan nearby Brielle breathed a sigh of relief when she saw other guards from various walks of life, many from the same guild she had been sent from.
"Excuse me." She approached the red cloaked woman. "Are you Marie St. Claire?"

Marie lowered her hood as she stepped up to the caravan, walking over to an assistant that quickly handed her a sheath of papers to look over. The red haired young woman began to flip through the pages, making sure that everything was accounted for along with checking off her mental list of the memorized order. Sure enough, the list was complete and a brief check of the 'extra' storage made sure that certain special orders were there as well. She looked over the guards of the caravan, spotting a new face that was quickly making her approach to the arms merchant.
She stared for a moment at the beastfolk after she asked the question. Steel grey eyes surveyed the young adventurer, as if piercing into her and searching for a certain something. Marie looked away from her new hand to the assistant from before, handing him the sheath of papers before walking right up to the beastfolk girl and... started... petting her? Yes, Marie began to pet the feline beastfolk. She stopped after a moment and now spoke for the first time.
"I am. And you'll do. What is your name?"

| "Are you. Are you petting me?" Brielle asked Marie. "I don't think our relationship has progressed far enough for pets yet Marie." Brielle said as she pulled away from the woman in red's hands. "My name is Brielle, I was sent to be your bodyguard for this journey."
Brielle looked around at the rest of the caravan. "Out of curiosity, where is this caravan heading?" The question wasn't truly out of curiosity, Brielle had been told that she gets the second half of her pay after she successfully gets Marie to their destination.
