The stage was set for the first round in the Beastfolk bracket of the tournament. This would be one match of many taking place within the old, dirt-coated arena. It hadn't seen much use in a while, but today it would see quite a bit of use from those wishing to prove their might and their potential as Future Heroes. The crowds were cheering as the barred doors opened, permitting the combatants into the main arena. It was a wide, circular arena with several pillars erected in various locations, but otherwise lacked much in the way of decoration. The sun was high and the stage was set.

Intro/Entrance:
A large 8ft tall hulking lizard entered the battle area his 4 and a half foot tail behind him. His scales a mottled blue and grey covered in scars. Though it would be hard to recognise for certain him being male but due to the sheer size that would be more than likely in the case of the majority of varients, he had come here to see if there where any strong beastfolk that could be made use of, as a Guard Captain it was always useful to try to collect strong soldiers from afar, he hadn't been able to travel for a long long time and the best way to start his regaining of strength was with a fight.
It seemed the area had pillars through it, technically they could be used as cover by smaller creatures, though the Lizard did not speak in the ring, his club was dragging in the ground and he stared off into the distance silent and unmoving... what would appear.
((OOC: this is short just as im having to start off it should pick up ones me and lawrence get into some action, but its the literal thing the character would do.))

Steel blue eyes saw nothing but the lingering rays of light that seeped through the massive doors at the other end of the hallway. Shadows and motes of dust danced in their vicinity as the mercenary moved forward. The well worn and tested boots making heavy foot falls against the packed dirt as Lawrence stretched his fingers. Sharpened nails, his honed claws, receded back into their dormant state as he reached forward and placed the palms of his hand flat against the doors. With a small heave, the entrance gave way to the contestant as the blazing sun shone down upon him. Dressed in his usual battle attire, further complimented by the leather armour that he wore over his torso, the silver haired spearman took a moment to let his entrance sink into the thoughts of the crowd.
He wasn't much for the cheering, or the sheer anticipation that this people seemed to project over to the competitors, but he wouldn't deny the fact that they did get him marginally more excited than normal. Confidently striding up to the boundaries of the arena, the heat from the sun above dutifully ignored, Lawrence disguised his intention of scanning the entirety of the battlefield with a gesture of taking in the grand crowd that had gathered today to see them battle. When the dust that had been kicked up by his footwear had finally died away, the silver haired male had been able to gather quite a bit of information regarding as to what his odds were in regards to the battle.
Obviously, the biggest threat was literally standing in front of him. A hulking form that was definitely larger than him, even by Beastfolk standards, stood there with a deathly looking club. The mercenary also took good note of the armour that his opponent wore, along with the crude looking club of a weapon that would definitely do a number on him if it connected. The enormous tail that he saw between his adversary's legs also garnered some attention from the silver-maned Beastfolk. Stratagems and tactics borne from countless fighting over the years began to flow into him, his instincts flaring up higher and higher as the prospect of a good fight began to sharpen them. The metallic face mask that covered his mouth hid away the fanged grin that had threatened to split his face into two.
The more human-looking of the two reached for his back and unholstered the spear from its resting place. He gave it a wide sweep, off towards the side as to not make it seem like a direct threat, before twirling it between his hands. Landing down into a comfortable stance, one that had been bred from practicality and function rather than standards and form, the spearman levelled the sharper end of his weapon towards his opponent and aimed for the gigantic reptile's eyes. Of course, the distance between them was too great to actually employ the notion behind his stance but it served well enough as an introductory motion.
The crowd cheered further and harder, seeing now that both contestants had finally reached their positions for the battle. As the wind blew once more, clumps of lightly packed dirt and dust going with the wind, the mercenary quietly waited for the announcement to begin whilst ensuring that his own eyes never broke away from his enemy's.

What appeared on the other side of the ring was another beastfolk as expected one that conformed to the normal types of beastfolk, this creature silver-maned in armour it clearly didn’t have armour like scales naturally and thus was needing to compensate, well of course it would depend not all animals had thick hides, some had layers of thick skin or fat layers that could at least slow down some momentum.
This creature withdrew a spear from there back, though it didn’t seem anything exactly special it would be rather interesting to observe what the creature could do and see its ability, it would be useful to see if this beastfolk could one day prove of use, though there would be people to fight later and thus the aged lizard did not plan to make it easy for this young blood.
Sounds filled the arena, though Nakai did not focus on them or what was making them, just kept his eyes locked on his opponent, these where one on one fights and you only needed to focus on your enemy. Though this creature tried to be mysterious by covering his face, an odd thing what was the point in needing to cover ones face.
He seemed to be a little bit of a show off with his weapon etiquette.
Nakai began to work some movement, moving around the ring, keeping his vision locked on the enemy.
Then he launched his charge to engagement, when he met the opponent if he held his ground or charged back or ran away, once he had been able to engage his enemy.
He would follow it with one of his more specialized attack methods designed to sunder armour before leading in with a normal attack with his prehensile tail. ____________________________________________________________________________
-Action 1 (Sunder Armour, Ability) Ability Name: Sunder Armour Ability Description: Nakai uses his warclub to sunder the armour of the enemy, using its force and weight to make some of the armours protection redundant. Ability Type: Martial (Warrior Starter) Ability Effect: Inflict attack damage against 1 target with 4 armor penetration. Ability Cost: Cannot be used more than once per round.
Spiked Club - Tier 1: Nakai carries around a large club, which he is sure many creatures would struggle to pick up one handed. Damage - 5
-Action 2 (Basic Attack, Tail Spike) Spiked Tail Guard - Tier 1: Over the end of his tail, the old lizard wears spiked tail guard to aid with spiking enemies with his tail. Damage - 5
(Of note as there going at the same time if Lawrence attacks his hits will defiantly land, engagement occurs at lawrences decision)

Lawrence didn't quite disliked the fact that the ground seemed to quake ever slightly when his opponent threw away any modicum of grace. It made it easier for him to properly figure out just how far his target was for one, and it'd be a lot more difficult to hide from his senses when someone was just that freakishly big. The giant lizard had made his way towards him and Lawrence had stayed his ground. Legs coiling and his grip on the weapon tightening, the smaller of the two fighters waited for the most opportune moment to move. As the opponent's spiked club had found itself elevated higher for an incoming strike, the spearman hopped out of its trajectory in time to avoid the entirety of the attack.
The mercenary didn't bother letting his eyes trail over to where the weapon had exactly ended up in, seeing as following the positioning of the opponent's arm was enough to give him the general location of it. No, instead of doing that, Lawrence pressed forward, his feet taking a step up front, and solidified his stance. Even as the spiked tail had somehow managed to curl up enough to strike at him, the leather armour that he had worn was enough to take away the brunt of the attack. The attack didn't have enough force behind it to stagger him or force his technique to go out of bounds. With a herculean amount of strength behind his movements, Lawrence allowed his spear to thrust forward with all of the force he could muster then.
He had taken advantage of the length of his own weapon and took into account the size differences between him and his opponent. As the spear raced forward, the mercenary made sure to have aimed it dead center on his opponent's chest. Even if there was some kind of magical enchantment around the arena and the fighters themselves, getting struck in such a vital area was bound to hurt one way or another.
Action 1: Dodge Description: Lawrence hopped away from the trajectory of the Sunder Armour ability, giving him ample time to prepare himself for his next action. Cost: 1
Action 2: Breaker, Ability Description: The user focuses his martial skills into an attack on 1 target. The attack, due to the strength put behind it, deals Attack Damage while also penetrating through 4 points of armour. Since the attack requires a modicum of effort to initiate, the technique can only be used once a round. Attack Damage - 5 Armour Penetration - 4 Cost: 1
Total Health: 50 Damage Taken: 5 Damage was taken from the Tail Spike, but was mitigated by 4 points of Armour. Remaining Health: 49

It seemed the young thing held its nerve after being charged by 400 pounds of bone and muscle, the creature also seemed to have the recklessness to close in on him in combat, bringing himself in under the arc of the mace before it hit, though he did not realise the tail coming in and took a blow from it, though it seemed he took most of the impact with his armour, it at least may work alongside a few other tactics, coming in from two sides or different angles.
Though he would need to sunder that armour to do any decent blows to the other fighter.
The fighter followed up his movement with a rapid strike towards his chest, though taking a blow didn’t worry Nakai, the spear still struck well working its way into the gap though this arena seemed to act differently it didn’t feel like it would normally but it would have been a rather good blow in real combat, rather interesting this little thing was quite reckless.
Though it showed Nakai some of the creatures cards early, As he was struck he swept his tail around as he went to move back and drop into a lower position, it would mean the enemy would have to close into him and Nakai wanted to observe the actions of the creature he was facing when closing an enemy.
Nakai’s Actions would be as follows as he swept his tail he would use it to pick up the muck and rubbish off the surface of the arena and launch it into the face of the enemy as the spike lashed out, he would use this in the process of launching backwards and while keeping himself facing the enemy, he would drop down changing his stance placing himself lower towards a similar height to his enemy, one hand on the ground as well as revolving his mace to have the mace up against his forearm, he would decrease the range to allow himself to close of the closing area for the spearman depending on his actions it would also be an easy place to revolve the mace from.

Total HP: 50 This Phase: 5 damage due to 4 armour penetration Remaining HP: 45/50
Action 1: Martial Ability: (Dirt and Muck launched at Lawrence) Ability Name: Dirty Fighting Ability Description: Nakai uses his prehensile tail and tail spike to throw dust/dirt/sand or the like into the enemies eyes to obscure there vision as he swings his tail at them. Lawrence didn't survive out in the field by letting himself be enraptured by surprises. If anything, he made it a habit to force himself to not be surprised. Specially not by something that had already struck him once. With his opponent having revealed the fact that his tail was actually dangerous, that it could do more than just be a decoration as evidenced by the former strike, the spearman had made adjustments to counteract the limb. Widening the scope of his vision, and making sure to keep the distance at a manageable length, Lawrence was no longer surprised to see his opponent making adequate use of such a distracting limb. It was, after all, another avenue of attack and one that could be used to exploit natural tendencies. Regardless, the mercenary wasn't going to let some overly reptilian beastfolk screw up his chances of winning.
So instead of pressing his advantage that had been born from the armor-penetrating thrust with his spear, the silver-maned beastfolk opted to defend himself from the incoming strike. Shifting his spear about in his hands and letting the blunt end of his weapon lay low, the mercenary defended himself from whatever effect that the attack would have caused him. It, however, staggered him to the point of having to realign himself. It was enough to have the mercenary not force himself to chase after his opponent. Besides, the gigantic lizard didn't show his back and had kept him within his sight. Chasing a readied opponent would just have the mercenary falling in for some kind of trap.
So rather than do said action, Lawrence instead hung back and allowed his opponent to gain some distance. Not like either of them had a method of ranged attacks from what he could pick up. It didn't mean that he couldn't prop himself however. Readying himself in another stance, the mercenary then waited once more for the battle to continue.
Action 1: Defend Description: Lawrence defended himself from both effects of the attack. Cost: 2(Not sure about this---combat guide says that Defending completely negates one Ability/Attack, but says that it only defends against the first effect. Just to be sure, I'm putting in 2 for the cost here to make sure nothing gets through.)
Action 2: Wait Description: Seeing as it was too dangerous to continue onwards, and having to make sure that everything was fine, Lawrence opted to hung back in a readied stance. Cost: 0
Total Health: 49 Damage Taken: Defended against Playing Dirty Remaining Health: 49

This little thing seemed to have the ability to at least somewhat counter the dust that was being thrown up, though this was a short battle, Nakai needed to break the creature, with his changed stance and position, he would yet again dive in against his target, it was the only way he would most likely be able to change this at the moment, his muscles where beginning to blaze, still a damn side effect of the wyvern venom all those years ago.
The beastfolk he was fighting didn’t use a shield so in this case it would most likely be best not to hold back and overwhelm him with shear momentum and force to drive him into a position he couldn’t escape, if Nakai could blind the creature’s eyes he would be easy prey to deal with.
Nakai drove forwards, once he was close enough he would swing his mace and arm in a upwards slash to cut through the lower sections of armour, if he was lucky the creature may lose their footing or lock there weapon to defend.
While he was engaging with his mace, he would use his tail and its spike to yet again throw dust and muck into the face of the enemy while he slashed with the tail.
This would hopefully overwhelm the fighter.

Lawrence gritted his teeth as he took a leap back. The hairs on the back of his neck had raised themselves with a purpose and he wasn't going to be letting himself ignore the instincts that had kept him alive. So as he saw his opponent charge him again, this time with a kind of vigour unseen from the last charge, the mercenary went into a feint-opening. Readying his spear for what looked like a counter attack, the tip of his weapon aiming for the eyes and following them the more his opponent neared him, Lawrence forced himself to then jump back far enough to completely avoid the crushing strength of the attack. He doubted that he'd get out of that unscathed, even with his armour taking the brunt of the damage. Still, with the space now given to him, Lawrence's scope of vision had been widened enough to understand why the attack had forced him to retreat instead of strike forward.
When the thrice-damned tail of his opponent launched itself like the last time, the sheer amount of debris and trivial things would have caused him unwarranted problems. Bringing up the blunt end of his weapon and the shaft to the forefront, the less threatening of the duo slapped away whatever amounted as a projectile out of the way. Even if some of the little rocks had managed to slip past the guard, his leather armour had more or less taken care of their nuances. It was an annoying thing to notice too. Licking his lips as he began to move around in an arcing manner around his opponent, the mercenary began to rack his brain and his gut for any brighter ideas. Stopping by one of the pillars, an idea clicked into his mind.
Lawrence almost hated it.
Still, every battle was a gamble. He might as well take his chances when he actually had one. Readying himself once more, the pillar to his left, and his left foot placed behind his right, the male was ready to come forth with an attack that could potentially come in a wider angle. All he needed to do now was wait for the damn thing to try and charge him again this time.
Action 1+2: Defend to Disengage Description: A continuous series of defensive manoeuvres amounted to Lawrence blocking the attacks sent his way whilst making enough space for him to properly move around. The distance that had been created between the two fighters is sizeable enough that melee attacks would be considered ineffective. Cost: 2

The young beastfolk continued being forced back though he was forced to defend from Nakai’s attacks and was not able to land a blow it would depend on how the “judges” gauged the battle for whom would be granted the “win”.
Nakai would have to think a way around a way that he hadn’t yet tried, he needed the creature to attempt to defend against something that he thought was going to occur but something different would occur.
Nakai made to close the beastfolk he needed to change things up a bit, so yet again he would charge in against the beastfolk, once he could make engagement he would begin movements to attempt to overload the brain of the beastfolk.
He would use his tail to grab his mace as he let it fall using his prehensile tail to move the mace quickly to his left hand before he reached range of attack with the beastfolk, he would use his left hand this time to make his armour penetrating blow on the creature.
This would be followed up by his using the momentum to bring himself around and bring his tail with a swarm of dust and muck around into the face of the beastfolk.

Lawrence hated banking on predictions. He preferred knowing things would happen as opposed to doing guesswork. However, with his line of work, the former was more often to happen than the latter and the only choice he had available was to learn to adapt. That, or at least manipulate the situation enough that he could make it easier for him. Hence the idea that had popped in his mind at the sight of the pillar next to him. He raised his weapon again and patiently focused on his opponent. He watched his enemy make his movements and mentally scoffed at the tactic his opponent was trying to employ. The range that the opponent's spiked club had was nullified the moment it tried to use its prehensile tail to hold unto it. It also effectively made his opponent easier to predict, and with the circumstances as they were, Lawrence was damn well prepared for what he was going to do.
He moved in a diagonal direction; deftly avoiding the initial lunge of the opponent's left hand. Due to his choice of movement however, Lawrence had placed the pillar of stone between him and his opponent while keeping an eye on him. Even as the initial attack missed, the gigantic lizard continued forward with a twist of body and his tail. Just like before. This time, however, with the one motion that Lawrence had employed, the tail attack and whatever else it had brought with it had found itself striking the pillar instead of him. It was during that instance did the spearman showcased the advantage of having a rather lengthy weapon on hand. Curving his thrust with his weapon, the mercenary unleashed an armour piercing attack towards his opponent, and made sure to have struck an angle where his weapon would not be caught as he pulled it back.
Action 1: Dodge Description: Lawrence baited his opponent before dodging backwards and behind the pillar.
