Myrrh Selena
Flamberge of the UNKNOWN LANDS
HUMAN | 20 | FEMALE |
NEUTRAL | WARRIOR | FREELANCER |
appearance, Myrrh is of slim build and petite height, barely crossing five-foot six and of lithe physique. Her innocent appearance is disarming; soft, sapphire blue eyes, waist-length, silvery white hair and is often seen wearing a white, sleeveless dress with a crystal pendant around her neck. Her look symbolizes the good-side of the balance, and often she gives off a good-natured charm. Upon seeing her, one might think of a white rose, elegant and pure but not without thorns. | personality, Myrrh is a timid yet friendly person, with a thirst for knowledge. She hates not knowing anything but would keep mum about it and find an answer or whatever it is she wanted to know on her own. She's very apt when it comes to sizing up a being or an opponent, taking care not to engage in battles she knows she couldn't win. She is a firm believer that one must not sacrifice for the greater good, because the greater good will find a way to even things out on its own, no matter how long it took. As a hired sword, she does her job fairly well even at a young age, and would strive for better performances with each job she was given. She does not question authority, which might be one of the bad or good traits about her. She does her job even without knowing why she does it, regardless of morality. Hired swords should obey their masters, regardless the moral alignment of said employers, and the souls they help ferry to the other side are the living, or in this case, dying testament of what good on the universe morals do. Myrrh accepts her job as a being created for a purpose, yet she could easily be swayed to do more. Myrrh is naive, being a young warrior, she doesn't know much about the world. She stayed clustered in her home up until she got her first weapon and assigned her tasks. She doesn't speak much to fellow warriors and even when they formed a sort of community, she stayed alone and preferred to be alone. Often, other reapers will approach her and in turn, if she deems them trustworthy, will soon open up and become their friend and fierce loyalty is what anyone could expect from when that happens. Her motto is friends first, self later, and it oftentimes led her to more disappointments that she can possibly imagine. She is greatly forgiving of her friends; as long as they're happy, she will be happy. |
history,
Myrrh was born in a tribal faction in the continent of Sendaikuni, known as Taralea; the clan of Parabatai, with her birthname Yui Kai. For centuries, they lived as a peaceful clan, their cultures the same as others only with the exception of a single, specialized tradition. The Taraleas have the tradition of linking themselves to a partner that they will either serve or protect for as long as they lived. This process is called Parabatai, which is split into two groups; the Guardians and the Knights. The girl was born into the Guardian faction, and even at a young age, shown great passion into the art of Guardianship. She would study for days on end, harnessing her inner powers in order to learn effectively how to protect her Knight. It is also the law of the Parabatai to sacrifice one's self to protect his or her partner, earning undying devotion and trust, forever, making them the perfect fighting partners.
Due to their peculiar customs, the Taralea began to be hunted and forced to swear fealty with other clans. The leader of the Parabatai refused to do so as well as the other members and all were slaughtered in a night. Myrrh, however, escaped with her brother to a neighboring town, taking care not to expose the Parabatai brand on their upper arm, they lived peacefully for once in a span of a couple of years.
It was when she was seven that her brother mysteriously disappeared after a night of sleeping in one of the denser forests of the land, leaving his sister alone with only a single rapier to protect herself, her brother's. As someone who learned only how to defend and not fight, the girl did not have any knowledge of how to use the weapon. It was luck that led her towards the ocean, days of walking with minimal food and water rendering her fatigued and almost to the brink of death until a kindly merchant took pity on her and brought her aboard his trading ship.
In here she met a warrior, who took interest in the rapier she was left and asked her if she wanted to learn how to use it. The girl decided that she had no choice but to learn how to defend herself and so she obliged, making sure to practice as much as she can. The ship stopped at Terra Heroem's port after a few months, and the warrior decided to take her in, letting her glimpse a world she only knew from behind her brother's back.
Twelve years passed after the purge of the Parabatai clan, her name changed to something less like her own and more Terran to fit the society she now belonged to, and Myrrh was what she was now. Myrrh found herself alone and fending for her own, a silent grudge in her heart for the brother who abandoned her, and forging a new life in the land, slowly earning her reputation while keeping her ancientry a deadly secret.
