The forest of Cydonia was hardly the monolithic structure that it tended to be portrayed as to people unfamiliar with it. It grew sparse and open, hillsides jutting through the trees and revealing craggy rock, plains opened in the middle where grasses overtook trees, and other disturbances in the forest. However, the point where Savas had elected to meet the man he'd be training, would give someone the opposite view. Trees as far to the left, right, and center as the eye could see.
He'd heard about the troubles facing the woods from his friends in the Scouts, and whatever could be the cause baffled him. Predator populations tended to be fairly stable, and though they've always been higher than nearly anywhere else given the size of open territory available in the woods, for the same reason they've never really gotten to the point where they've been spilling out like this. Fortunately, given that the reports tended to focus on this area, the problem was likely more local than forest-wide. And while it would be for the best if the problem wasn't too widespread, he hoped it'd be enough to cut teeth on. That was what he was using it for, after all.
A howl rings out from the woods. "They really are active, aren't they?" He mutters, both for his own benefit as well as for his companion's. "I hope you're ready for a bit of a workout." He grins. "But then again, that's what you signed on for, wasn't it?"
He looks out over at the woods, then back at Wilhelm. "Any questions you have before we head in? Speak now, or forever hold your peace."
