Soren Maeldir
Just Maeldir
Elf | 24 | Male |
Chaotic Good | Mage | Maximum Hobo |
appearance, Soren, or Maeldir as he prefers, resembles a fairly young man, his physical appearance being a few years younger than his actual age due to the slow aging of elves. His clothes are foreign to any sense of modern fashion due to scavenging them from foreign merchants and basically whatever he could get his hands on. He has a rougher appearance than most elves, something he believe comes from distant human heritage but has never really cared enough to actually look into. | personality, Chaotic Good: While Maeldir isn't the most tame individual he is a good person at heart. He has a decent sense of morality, and is basically a regular person as far as things he cares about-- With some eschewed priorities. Doesn't stop him from being a total ass to people whenever he feels like-- Don't take it too personally, he's just full of the vinegar about life. Deadpan Snarker: Maeldir is salty as fuck. For those who don't know what that means, it means he's almost perpetually irritated about some thing he finds stupid or another. As such, he usually takes this out on people around him by making snarky comments and poking holes in their arguments. Sometimes to be helpful, sometimes just for shits'n'giggles. Usually the latter. Nature Lover: Due to his time spent out in the wild, Maeldir has kind of a soft spot for animals and beasts. He can treat almost any beastly creature as though it were the most adorable puppy you've ever seen in your life. And who doesn't like puppies? Nice Hat: LOOK AT IT. |
history,
Soren was born as one of two twins to a common, rather low-born elf woman from a family long disgraced and impoverished. They were the product of an illicit affair between their mother and a nobleman from a rather noticeable, wealthy and respected family, whom clearly did not approve of such a relationship. As such, while the children knew of their father, they lived with their mother out on the streets of Cydonia, only seeing their father on infrequent visits he made out to visit them. They were somewhat of a secret, but a poorly kept one that was whispered upon in court but never outright stated. They were the skeletons in his closet. But that meant nothing to the child Soren-- He was just glad to see his father when he came around, and too young to understand why he could never stay.
One day in his Childhood, he came upon his mother and father arguing, something unheard of in all his visits. He hid during the argument and later when he inquired to his mother what it was about, she evaded the question and told him not to worry. Naive kid that he was, he did just that. His father never visited again after that, and months afterwards, their mother died of a terminal illness. Leaving Soren and his young sister alone, living in the temporary care of a neighbor who was slowly losing the patience to take care of two children that were not her own.
So Soren then had the bright idea to go visit his father. Surely if he told him what happened, he'd take them in right? Well given that his job title is currently maximum hobo I assume you know where this is going, but I'll lay it out for you. The young Soren managed to sneak his way into his fathers estate, using a mix of stealth, his meager magical talents, and a whole lot of luck. He ended up coming face to face with his father, whom sternly rejected him. He denied any involvement with Soren, his sibling, and his mother. He revealed that his mother had told him of her illness when she discovered it and begged him to take the children-- And just as he told her no, he told Soren no. He had him thrown off his estate, and effectively disowned them.
As you can imagine, this destroyed Soren, whom from then on discarded his first name and adopting his mother's maiden name as a surname and nickname, Maeldir. (His sister claims he's being melodramatic however, and refuses to call him by anything but his name.) He took his sister and fled the city, intent on running away. Which as two young children, was probably not the best idea. They did well for themselves standing out in the wild, but admittedly Soren's dumb idea almost got them both killed. Had they not been found by a caravan of foreign merchants who took mercy on the two youngsters, they probably would have died. They gave the children food, shelter and clothing and in turn began to teach them their trade.
But Soren never took quite as well to the crew of merchants as his sister did; He was strongly attached to his magical talents that the merchants could not help him in: None of them possessed the talent. He often left for weeks at a time, spending his time out in the wild or travelling on his own, practicing his magical abilities himself or simply spending his time among the wild. He sometimes visits the many cities of Terra Heroum, namely Dracon, either with or without the kindly merchants that adopted him, but mostly kept to himself and the wild. If it wasn't for his Sister, these visits would probably have been even less frequent.
He does however partake in the occasional bout of heroism or altruism, simply due to the more adventurous side of his personality.
