Usagi Inako
Medicine Rabbit
Beastfolk | 18 | Female |

appearance, Usagi, hailing from Sendaikuni, is often clad in the clothes of her home country. Though they may appear elaborate to some, for her this is a very humble and informal ensemble. It mainly consists of working clothes, designed to allow movement on the job. She has a few different versions of it; one an all-white, one with a mix of grey and white, and one that borderlines formal wear through green fabric, ornamentation and a nice jacket to go over it. Usagi herself though is on the thin blooded side of her clan. The only real physical signs of her clan's heritage are the white rabbit ears and her red eyes. You could argue her small nose is also indicative of this, but she doesn't. Her hair is a light purple and she has allowed it to grow out. She's fairly average in height and weight, and if she adopted more Terran dress she wouldn't really stand out much. | personality, Usagi's personality is one that tries to avoid the spotlight. She doesn't deal well with large numbers of people all focusing on her and prefers to stand off to the side. She was never really pushed to overcome this, being in an environment where standing out was a bad thing, so it worked out well for her. It does mean that she almost always does her errands at odd hours to avoid dealing with the crowds though. As a forienger to Terra Heroum, she's not fully adapted to the various customs and practices they use yet. She will often revert to tendencies from home when put into non-casual situations, or interacting with people she isn't familiar with. She's learned the language well enough at least, but it's been tough completely adjusting to a different set of cultural norms. Likely part of her withdrawn personality, she does not handle surprises and jump scares well. These often get her to literally jump and bolt to the nearest safe place she can find. However she does make use of her keen senses to try and detect these things before they can get her. Perhaps that's why she's so hard to sneak up on... |
history,
Usagi Inako was born to the Usagi clan in Sendaikuni, on one of the smaller islands in the chain. Their land was a largely mountainous region prone to low temperatures and plenty of snow. The entirety of the Usagi clan had rabbit blood in them, to varying degrees, which they learned to adapt and utilize to their environment. Those with thicker blood would show great jumping power and be able to scale the steep inclines with ease, making good hunters. Their heightened senses would allow them to find prey and avoid bigger predators. Those with thinner blood often maintained the homes and watched over the young and ill. There was little they could do in the way of agriculture due to the poor soil.
She was one of the thinner-blooded members of the clan and so did work around the village while the hunters were out. It was what she could do to help the clan survive, since due to their remote location they didn't often interact with other clans. They got news every now and then but trade was difficult. Transportation aside they had very little to offer other clans that they couldn't get in an easier way. That made them largely self-sufficient, working with each other and the environment to survive. As the daughter of the primary village medicine man, she learned how to mix and prepare herbal remedies using the minute plant life that grew in the region, and often requested the hunters to double as gatherers for these herbs. In turn, she and her father were able to keep everybody in good condition.
A messenger that they had sent down to another nearby clan came back with interesting news; the other clan was sending a ship to Terra Heroum loaded with merchants, and their clan was asked if they would like to send somebody. Normally it would not be a venture worth taking, but times had been a bit rough as of recently. If they could find something in the new world, perhaps something to ease their lives or even a new place to settle and call home, then it would be worth it. The question then was who to send? Inako was eventually the one to volunteer, pointing out that it would not leave the clan helpless since her father was still perfectly capable and it was something she could do to help. Since no one else seemed quite as willing and ready to leave home, she was chosen. Thus she boarded the ship, and soon arrived in the foreign land of Terra Heroum, having no idea what to expect beyond the rumors spread while aboard the merchant vessel.
