appearance, Sebastion is a tall and wiry fellow with much youth in him: his skin is bright, his eyes sharp, and his body strong and sturdy for its composition. He has a firm and straight posture and carries himself well, showing obvious attention to detail and respect for appearance and social graces. He has a vibrant and healthy energy about him, but is gentle and subtle in his mannerisms: he tows the line between vigorous young adult and worldly gentlemen and so occasionally can be very hard to place. Materially speaking, he is light and rugged: not a warrior or an athlete, but a healthy man taken to regular labor and exertion. He weighs 60-65kg depending on his fare and stands shy of two metres tall: his figure many narrow, jutting corners and sharp edges held together with aristocratic poise. He has a like face with narrow and subtle contours that provoke impressions of refinement and wit. His eyes are a gentle and faded blue and dark, dark brown hair hangs about his neck and shoulders in cultured waves that bring contrast to his otherwise pale countenance. - Portrait of Sebastion; Age 22 Sebastion is a man of particular and often unusual tastes: while he primarily wanders, his choice of attire is expensive and sleek, with long coats and sharp sleeves, collars and tails and fine fabrics of white and black; and yet, he carries trinkets with him laden with sentimentality that change by the eve. A bracelet or a charm, a simple stone: anything he receives as a gift or has a reason to draw fond memories from may travel with him for a while. Not the least of which are his glasses: short, wide lenses with no adjustment to his vision as he has long since ceased needing them. He continues to wear a pair for occasions to suit his own comfort and aesthetic, but whether or not any particular piece of his attire with accompany him day to day is a matter only of his whim. | personality, Sebastion presents himself as a friendly stranger to most folks. He is cordial, polite, and tactful in his social conduct: always accommodating and, to some extent, friendly. He is not a cold person, but tends to remain distant on the whole: opening up to only an individual at a time and generally in no greater detail than he needs to. He tends to avoid mutual connection, as he has something of a commitment with himself not to settle in one place, despite being highly sentimental towards people and places. What drives a man like Sebastion is anyone's guess, and something he himself often wonders about. He doesn't know what he's looking for in his life, nor is he confident that he will find anything: moving from place to place and never lingering has just become so normal to him. He sees a vast goodness in his life, in the many people he's seen and helped and the many stories he's heard since taking to the road, but does not quantify or stand behind them as a source of pride or fulfillment: he doesn't even cling so to their memory, though he hasn't lived long enough yet to start forgetting. He is often conflicted emotionally between cherishing the moment and properly appreciating the past, but keeps himself busy so as not to dwell on it. He does have a sense of justice, though not one that would ever have him using the word. He is a compassionate and protective of many people and despises dishonesty, exploitation, and oppression in many forms. He has a tendency to step outside of his moral alignment in an intellectual way, acknowledging the presences of corruption and selfishness, and many hidden fallacies of the moral good, but doesn't take them as reasons to abandon his magnanimous nature. In some small measure, he seeks a way to make a world that functions without souring, without eventually becoming corrupt, but this is only a small piece of his life that is overcome by his day to day wanderings in the world he's come to love. |
history,
Sebastion doesn't speak much of the particulars of his upbringing. His family were wealthy, upper class folk with great ambition, and so much of his life was spent in academic, political, and aristocratic studies: how to deduce, to discern, and to behave, and of course as much of Terra Heroum's Academia as they could fit inside his growing mind. Naturally he was a quiet boy, but absorbed knowledge like a sponge despite having difficulty reading and seeing clearly.
Sebastion's father was an avid traveler and the second defining influence of his childhood. They would visit all corners of the Heroum together, sometimes their whole family and others with just he and his father. Ventures into foreign capitals were great learning experiences for young Sebastion, and he would develop here a fondness for foreign peoples and cultures despite his somewhat shy disposition. Travel was a consuming thing for Sebastion even as he carried all his books and papers and the life of his academic pursuits along with him. It helped him come out of his shell and especially to bond with his father.
By the time adolescence was upon him, it was already understood that Sebastion wouldn't take up the family's business and position. He was the oldest, but not the only child of his generation, and his younger brother was a far more gripping and charismatic boy, suited for engaging in political fare. Moreover, Sebastion had been going through some changes in his life: strange occurrences followed him as he came of age, not the least of which being the remission of his poor eyesight, which he has never known to be biological or a manifestation of the magic he would find out later he'd been born with. In any event, the four of them understood their circumstances and Sebastion held no desire to stay and tie himself to a legacy. Instead, he agreed to support his brother when he could from his own life and from afar, still wanting to see more of the world and live a fuller and more complete life on his own.
When he came of age, Sebastion left the Grey household and took to the Heroum, keeping some of his aristocratic eccentricity but otherwise adopting a common nomadic lifestyle. It's been six years, and there aren't many places he hasn't visited at least once: along the way, the strange phenomena that had begun to surface in his adolescence became more familiar and common to him, and after meeting several others like him, hearing their stories, his inheritance as a born Mage started to become clear. For the most part, he hasn't known what to make of his gradually unveiling power; but as he wanders and more and more encounters others in need, it appeals to him more and more to use this power for whatever he can.
