Tap.
Tap.
Scratch.
Thick claws tapped against the wooden desk, carving a tiny cut into it. A small 'tch' noise escaped the disgruntled Representative as he realized what had happened, before simply refocusing on the papers in front of him. It was not the first scratch covering the relatively new desk, and it would not be the last. It had become common practice for Taksaka to gain a new desk roughly every year or so: His claws left too many incidental marks upon them in his boredom. He at first thought he would simply deal with it, but it had become abundantly clear in his second year as representative that would not be an option. His desk had looked like a veritable scratching post, and his second at the time had all but thrown the thing out the window herself, demanding he get a new one. So he had replaced it; And a year later, the new desk was remarkably the same. So it got thrown out too. And so it went on and on for nine years, until the current situation. He reckoned this desk had about three months left in it before he tossed it; Maybe four if he tried to control himself, but that rarely seemed to work. In fact it only ever seemed to make it worse, like trying not to think about an itch.
He was lucky he didn't rip more holes in papers than he did. Speaking of--
The Half-Dragon representative sighed, placing the papers down on the desk and gently closing the folder that contained them. Inside were several files reviewing the performance of his new second; One that had been appointed only a few days ago. A young man by the name of Armando Luna, a part shark beastfolk who had made a name for himself with military service. Taksaka had never met the lad in the flesh himself, and so the appointment wasn't specifically his choice. But his bureaucratic advisers had labelled him the best fit for the position, so that was no particular issue. He would prove himself capable, or he would be replaced. It was that simple. Taksaka was never one to keep those around whom could not prove their worth, nor was he a particularly patient man with those whom took a long time to learn.
Speaking of his young new second, he had sent a courier for the man to meet him in his office anytime now.
And if Taksaka hated anything among his subordinates, it was those who were late.

He was nervous, there was no other way to put it. He was excited when the government officials told him he was promoted to work under the Representative as a second, the Fang of the Beastfolk. Yet, now, he is only figuring out that he was working for one of the only Dragon breed Beastfolk alive. That, itself, was something to be nervous about. The second, and final, reason why he nervous is because of all the new responsibilities that he must take care of.
He made it to the door, a few minutes early, and steel his nevers. His eyes became cold as his face lost all emotions. He was no longer Armando Luna but the Fang of the Beastfolk, the Swift Rain Warrior. He knock on the door and waited for an answer, and as soon as it came he entire the door to start his new career. Years of training command him, as soon as he saw the Representative, forcing him in a salute. "Armando Luna, reporting for duty! Sir!"

The Half-Dragon's eyes glanced up as a knock struck the door, a few minutes ahead of schedule. Speak of the devil and he shall appear, eh? Well, more like think in this case, but the idea was the same. He considered letting the guy stew outside the door for a bit; Half to fuck with him, and half to see what he did in an odd situation. But maybe not the best way to start their first meeting; He was sure his soon-to-be-overworked-Second would come to resent Taksaka's attitude well enough in the days to come without Taksaka instigating bullshit this early in their relationship. That could come later; When his second drowned in paperwork and learned to hate all bureaucracy as much as Taksaka did.
"Enter."
The half-shark entered his room and introduced himself.
"Hm."
He choose to respond with a simple grunt as he assessed the man-- No, the boy in front of him. His manners were good, at least. Regal, befitting a military officer. Still, he looked young for his age. His files said he was twenty six, if he recalled correctly, but his appearance seemed at least a few years younger. However given the varied nature of Beastfolk this wasn't exactly uncommon: Some lived long lives and aged slowly, some seemed to come and go with the seasons. Such was the fickle nature of phantasmal heritage. The Representative rose from his seat, one hand crossing behind his back while the other scooped up the file in front of him that he had been perusing not more than a few minutes previous.
"Listen up, because depending on how you answer this question your life might be rather rough for the foreseeable future."
Never one to sugarcoat things, Taksaka lifted the file in his hand, displaying it for Armando to see.
"I've read this rather extensively. Inside it details why my advisers think you're correct for this position-- Now I want you to tell me, why did you want the position?"

"Listen up, because depending on how you answer this question your life might be rather rough for the foreseeable future."
Look like he was right to be nervous after all. No matter, he didn't got this far without charging ahead. He settle into a semi relax stand and give his full attention to Taksaka. At that time, he give his boss an once over. Noticing that his arms are scaled and his fingers are tip with claws. It was tend that Taksaka show him a folder, his folder.
"I've read this rather extensively. Inside it details why my advisers think you're correct for this position-- Now I want you to tell me, why did you want the position?"
Well that was unexpected, he had honestly thought that Taksaka had chosen him. He chew on his words carefully, allowing determination to creep into his eyes. He didn't want the job, he was given it. And he would make sure he accomplished it to the best of his abilities.
"Honestly sir? I was appointed as your second, it was not my idea to join. I enjoy fighting side by side with my brothers and sisters on the battlefield. Not in a desk and pushing paperwork for the smallest of thing. I had enough of that as a leader of the army."
He stop there for just a second, allowing Taksaka to absorb what have he had said. The next part was rather tricky, as he was playing a huge risk by saying he didn't want the job.
"Yet like all challenges I will take it and do the best I can. I guess you can say why I want this job is to learn. You can expect how hard it is to learn when you are on the field or at a base. As your second I can travel and meet different people of different races. Think about it this way, you will have more free time cause there less paperwork. I known I planing to get myself a secretary as soon as I can."

"Honestly sir? I was appointed as your second, it was not my idea to join. I enjoy fighting side by side with my brothers and sisters on the battlefield. Not in a desk and pushing paperwork for the smallest of thing. I had enough of that as a leader of the army."
The fuck? He was given the job and he didn't even want it? Granted, it wasn't the best job. As a matter of fact it sucked. The power that came with the positions were nice, but there was a great deal of work and responsibility that came with it. He didn't interject immediately, trusting that he had something more to say. Or rather, assuming he must have, because if he left it there, he could be sure he wouldn't have the position for long. Taksaka had no use for an unwilling Second. Without the proper resolve, they'd quit within the month anyway. Or kill themselves. God knows the thought had crossed Taksaka's mind before. And he tended to assume everyone else wasn't quite as determined as he was-- A soldier longing for combat would be more of a burden than an asset.
"Yet like all challenges I will take it and do the best I can. I guess you can say why I want this job is to learn. You can expect how hard it is to learn when you are on the field or at a base. As your second I can travel and meet different people of different races. Think about it this way, you will have more free time cause there less paperwork. I known I planing to get myself a secretary as soon as I can."
...Better, but not by much. The representative exhaled deeply, turning away from the boy standing in front of him. He had some measure of resolve, but his ambitions strayed only to experiencing the world. It wasn't a particularly harmful or malicious ambition: Lots of people dream about seeing the world. But it was selfish. Focused only on personal fulfillment. Those with position should serve for only a single reason: For those they led. Taksaka was representative not because he enjoyed the position or because he craved power or wealth or excitement. He was representative because a cranky old man had once scooped him out of his rather meaningless life and showed him how to make a difference. There was no room for adventure, wonder or free time really.
Okay, there was some room for it. But it was no reason to want the position.
"Ridiculous. You think this is a vacation?"
He dropped the file, causing it to land with a rather audible "THWAP", giving the impression of slamming it onto the wooden desk.
"You're not here to meet people. You're not here to see foreign places. You're here because that's what's good for Ba'dagar. And if you're not what's good for Ba'dagar, you'll be out of here faster than I can throw you. Or just as fast, if I'm in a particularly foul mood."
So why didn't Taksaka just dismiss him? Because he was a soldier. And like he said, he was there to accept a challenge. If his word was true, he'd accept the challenge of the position no matter what it was. So Taksaka could mold him; If he didn't fit, he could break him, and put him back together as a more useful second. He'd make a good public servant out of him whether it killed him. His options were that or quit, and he didn't strike Taksaka as a quitter.
"Now I'll ask you again. Why do you want to be the Claw of the Beastfolk? Nobody is forcing you."

[attr="class","reptile"]At the sound of something slamming on a table, Alice looked up from where she was standing to the open porthole she had flew out of not too long ago. It hadn't been that long since Alice left Tak-sama and went to deal with the guards that had called her out. Alice expected the scratching and the tapping but not the table-slamming. The Claw wondered if the table was alright, always getting tormented by Tak-sama.
Alice decided that she should probably go check on him and the table, to make sure that he hasn't "accidentally" murdered any table or person while she was gone. Alice handed the report back to the guard next to her, and at the same moment, she drew out the sword resting in the guard's scabbard in one swift movement. Just in case.
She turned away from the guards and batted her wings, sending herself into the air and towards the open window. The breeze teased her long white hair as she flew, sword in hand, to the entrance that will lead her to the Beastfolk Rep's office. As she neared the window, Alice folded her wings and shrunk slightly so she could glide through the porthole. She had of course, done that multiple times, so the winged beastfolk landed safely on her feet, just like the countless times before.
"I have come to your aid, Taksaka-sama, is the table alright?"
Alice deadpanned as she examined the room, the sword she took from the guard held in position. Her eyes registered the young man, who was a new face, the new scratches on the poor table, and the messy papers on the table. The file that seemed to have been slammed on the table was the one that contained information about the new Second.
"Ah, I see." Alice murmured to herself, as the pieces clicked. The young man must be the new Fang of the Beastfolk. She gave her future partnerーas long as he doesn't piss Taksaka-sama off and screw upーan overall with her piercing gaze, which was even more intimidating than usual with the sword in her hand, just to mess with him and see how he reacts.
Deciding that there's no immediate threat on the table or Tak-sama, Alice leaned back against the wall and lowered the sword, gesturing for the two to continue what she had interrupted with her sudden arrival.

seriously? "You have got to be kidding me." Silver muttered as he caught sight of Alice taking off from the ground and into the window of the Beastfolk Representative. His eye twitched.
Silver had been wandering around in search for the Corpse Princess. He had wanted to talk to her about some issues with the guards, but of course, when he finally finds her, she flies away. This had happened many times before; it was always so annoying --even more annoying than the fact that she was usually late more any outing with Silver, but early for everyone else.
Groaning, Silver turns to go inside the house; he still needed to talk to Alice, and he did spot her taking a sword with her. Maybe something was wrong. Silver decided to go check on her; and the table. He had been in Taksaka's office a few times before, and that desk does not seem to be okay. It was always covered in scratches, and Alice told him that the table had to be replaced many times over.
As he walked, he recalled that today was the day when the Fang of the Beastfolk was supposed to meet Taksaka. He wondered how he was doing, and if he has pissed off Taksaka yet. After many close calls, Silver had gotten the Beastfolk Rep angry once; he shuddered --never doing that again.
He had reached the door of the Beastfolk Rep, and he heard some yelling from the other side. So the Fang had pissed off Taksaka --Silver decided to wait outside (the wise choice).
Taksaka was on Silver's 'Top-10-Most-Scary-Guys' list, and if he had to choose between waiting an hour to talk to Alice, or knocking on his door when he's angry, he'd choose the first. No need to die for no reason.

[On account of AJ's absence until the end of the month, I'm going to God-mod him for a bit to remove him from the posting order. He can rejoin when he returns if he wishes and if there are any problems, lemme know.]
Taksaka really did intend to give his poor new Employee a chance to respond. He really did. Until Alice flew in the window, sword in hand. The act itself he didn't mind in the slightest, it was simply a reminder he had better things to do then grill his new Fang, even if it was somewhat enjoyable.
"The Tables fine, Alice. Your new partner here was just going to step out into the hall to really think about why he wants his job if he wants to keep it."
His voice left no room for argument: It was a clear dismissal of the young man to leave. He may have been Fang, but until he earned Taksaka's approval in the position, the half-dragon had no intention of cluing him in on matters of state, sensitive or not. He had other things to discuss with his other second, and wanted to get to it as quickly as possible. When Armando gave him a satisfactory answer, then he could contribute. Until then, he was essentially in the doghouse: Or in this case, the hallway. It was admittedly juvenile of Taksaka, like a teacher disciplining a rowdy student, but he couldn't be bothered to put up with his fumbling as he raked him over the coals, not did he want to deal with the hassle of firing him quite yet. He might prove to be a decent grunt if he had a moment to think.
"In the meantime, we need to discuss some reports I've received from our officials in Cydonia and Andor."
He turned away from his two Seconds, not even looking at the young Fang as he left the room, and went to stand out in the Hall. This would lead him straight past Silver, whom was waiting directly outside, but Taksaka pretended he couldn't hear him standing right outside the door. Making sure Armando was fully out of the room, he continued.
"A cult from roughly three decades ago is experiencing a bit of a resurgance: Or so the rumors go, anyway. I have my doubts. Regardless, there is a more immediate issue."
Turning to sit in his chair and face Alice, he brushed the files pertaining to Armando aside and scooped up another, quite larger pile of files sitting there. It wasn't uncommon for Taksaka to receive a myriad of reports from Beastfolk living outside of Ba'dagar, either from officials on assignment, mobile caravans or simply from beastfolk whom have sent word to their friends or relatives of local going-ons, which were in turn discussed and made into local rumor within Ba'dagar itself. Regardless of where the information came from, it was all recorded eventually and submitted as an official report. They all made their way back to Taksaka eventually. The population were his eyes and ears, and Taksaka prided himself on his network of gathering information pertaining to his people regardless of geographic location. After all, he worked for the people, not a place. Moreover, holing up inside your own City-State and being ignorant to the world around you was an excellent way of being surprised, and Taksaka hated surprises. Most of the reports were simple, mundane things that didn't warrant much discussion or further thought. But he read them all never the less, for the few important ones that slipped through. Important ones like the few troubling documents he had received not more than a few hours prior.
"Apparently, rumors of their revival have sparked a certain... hostility against reptilian beastfolk. Half-wits who can't tell the difference between a serpent tongued beast folk and a pact mage have started a rather unseemly habit of discriminating against them."
Racism. An ugly concept, and one that was surprisingly less frequent in Ba'dagar than within the other City States. Certain rivalries existed between those beast folk clans of specific heritages, but these grudges were more personal and resembling of rivalries than hatred or discrimination. Due to the massive variety of shapes and sizes Beastfolk could come in, the concept of discrimination against those with particular traits or features had long since been stamped out of their culture: They were one people, regardless of what manner of heritage flowed through their veins. It was a sense of community born out of necessity, as almost none of their people desired to be alone, but it was very rare to find two beastfolk with the same manner and appearance of heritage. It was all or nothing, and as a people they needed one another to survive. From that, came a particular acceptance of whatever shape and size their fellows came with; And a far more open community. With some, albeit few, exceptions: Such as the village Alice was born in.
Not to mention nobody in Ba'dagar would dare discriminate against reptilian Beast Folk when their leader was half bloody dragon.
"Obviously no such incidents have occurred within the limits of Ba'dagar, but that does not mean they are to be ignored. What did your father tell you of the short-lived Dragon Cult?"
It may have seemed an abrupt change in subject, but Taksaka needed to know what she knew before he laid out what he wanted her to do about it: And he assumed most of what she knew of events from 30 years ago came from her father, the late Lord Zeta. He somewhat suspected a cult itself [if it even existed], or at least some outside force, was behind the sudden surge of racism, but wouldn't voice these concerns until he had evidence to back it up. Which was where her and Silver came in.
Oh right, Silver.
"Oh, and you may let Silver in now. He's been rather patient behind the door for a while now, to answer the same question I just asked you. He'll probably become involved regardless."

[attr="class","reptile"]Alice's eyes followed the shark beastfolk as he made his way towards the door. In that short moment of door opening and closing, Alice glimpsed a glint of silvery hair, she wasn't sure if it was who she thought it was or merely just her imagination. Was that Silver outside the door?
The Claw pried her thoughts away from Silver and the beastfolk who was sentenced to stand outside the hallway like a grade-schooler and focused her attention on her superior. She knows from all the time she has spent working under him that if that sadistic Taksaka willingly dismisses an opportunity to taunt someone, that means there must be some serious matter concerning Ba'dagar and its people.
Alice took the new file from Taksaka and had a look at it. Her eyes widened as she read its content while listening to the Beastfolk Rep. Alice had to be mindful of her hands, if not, she would rip the file in rage. She had to consciously tell herself to calm down and not let anger overwhelm her. Racism was one of the things she despised the most, along with discrimination and prejudice, and a big reason of why she became a Second was to prevent anyone from having to experience the discrimination she had a fair share of. The loneliness that comes with being treated unfairly, like no one is there for you is one of worst things a person could experience.
Alice maintained her professional demeanor on the exterior as she had trained herself to not break down in front of anyone, especially not her superior, a man who she had admired since she was young. She pushed the unpleasant thoughts away and concentrated on Taksaka's question for her.
The Dragon Cult? Lord Zeta had mentioned it when she was studying about Pact Mages. Alice remembered him saying it was one of the most notorious organizations of Pact Mages, however short-lived. It had a great impact on people at the time because of the fear it instilled in them. People fear the fall of the Heroes, because who is there left to protect them from all the dangers of the world without the Heroes? She had conducted a little research on the cult by herself due to her own curiosity and had ended up not finding anything more than what Lord Zeta had told her.
"Oh, and you may let Silver in now. He's been rather patient behind the door for a while now, to answer the same question I just asked you. He'll probably become involved regardless."
Ah, so it was Silver that I glimpsed after all. Alice went over to the door and opened it to let the pale-haired tiger beastfolk in, then returned to her spot facing Tak-sama. Taksaka-sama seemed like he had something planned for Silver and her. Alice wondered what Silver know about The Dragon Cult, since she had never mentioned anything of the sort to the boy. A cult of pious Pact Mages who worshipped the Great Dragon isn't really something of an everyday conversation topic.
Alice cocked her head to the right as she answered. "Hm, from what I recall, I'm pretty sure father mentioned that it was a band of Pact Mages who spread rumours about the fall of the Age of Heroes and worshipped the Great Dragon..." Alice faltered slightly, since the events regarding the cult happened ten years before she was born, the girl was unsure about the allegory of the Great Dragon. Dragons barely exist nowadays and an average person would probably spend his/her whole life without ever seeing a real dragon, the closest thing to a dragon would probably be Tak-sama. It was then that she caught on to what Taksaka was thinking.
"Taksaka-sama, are you possibly suspecting that this racism," Alice felt disgusted just saying the word. "Against reptilian beastfolks may have been caused by this so-called Dragon Cult?"

seriously? As Silver waited outside the door to Taksaka's office, he heard footsteps coming to the door, and so he stepped off to the side as what was presumably the Fang of the Beasfolk stepped out. He doesn't seem happy, Silver thought as the door closed once again. He didn't want to go inside the office if the half dragon beastfolk didn't call on him. Silver knew that Taksaka realized that he was standing outside, so he could wait a little more.
Silver stood there in what most people would mistake for "patience", but he was restless on the inside; he was part tiger, and he would rather run around than stand around in a black suit.
"Oh, and you may let Silver in now. He's been rather patient behind the door for a while now, to answer the same question I just asked you. He'll probably become involved regardless." He heard Taksaka say from behind the door. Finally.
Alice had opened the door and let him in. He almost sighed in relief when he felt the breeze from the still open window; he'd rather stand here than in the stuffy hallway. But now was a time to focus; Taksaka said for Silver to answer something. I would get involved regardless, the beastfolk had said.
"Hm, from what I recall, I'm pretty sure father mentioned that it was a band of Pact Mages who spread rumours about the fall of the Age of Heroes and worshiped the Great Dragon..." Alice faltered at the end of the sentence. Silver's eye twitched; she didn't even give him the question. She either assumes I would know exactly what they were talking about or she forgot. Or she wanted to annoy me. It was probably the latter.
But, Silver thought, a band of Pact Mages?
"Taksaka-sama, are you possibly suspecting that this racism," Alice had practically spat the word, "against reptilian beastfolks may have been caused by this so-called Dragon Cult?"
Silver's currently hazel eyes widened. Racism? Dragon Cult? He recognized the name from one of the many books he had read, and tales from others around the house of Lord Zeta. Silver had a short conversation with the old man about the Dragon Cult once, and from what he heard, the Cult wasn't a good one.
Apparently, they were a group of Pact Mages --that was enough to make Silver cringe. As a mage, he despised the Pact Mages, for they had tainted the name of Mage, and he will forever hold a resentment towards them. The Dragon Cult had seemed to have been revived, as per rumors, and problems had arisen in other City-States. This time Silver did cringe.
"Excuse me, but could someone please inform me about what is going on?"

Taksaka didn't respond to Silver's request to be clued in: Not directly anyway. It'd be easier to just keep going-- He'd catch on. Or Alice could fill him in. He didn't really care, he just didn't much feel like doubling back on what he just said, regardless of the fact it was almost entirely Tak's fault he'd let the boy wait outside rather than just call him in for the initial explanation.
"That would be jumping to conclusions."
It was, after all, hard to believe a cult from some three decades ago just happened to rise out of the dust all at once and proceed to terrify the entire populace of Terra Heroum. Even more difficult to discern they were behind the apparently discrimination said fear was bringing, due to a key missing component: A reason. Taksaka couldn't figure out why these randoms acts of discrimination could possibly be of benefit to anyone. Provided they were even true: This was all based on reports from across the country after all, and it wouldn't be the first time Taksaka had gotten false or misguided reports from such a distance. The intercity game of Telephone that went on usually distorted facts that way. It was how seriously Taksaka took threats against the livelihoods of his people that earned such fallible reports such seriousness in this situation.
"We're not sure the Dragon Cult even exists: The people whisper about it, but they also whisper that giant, wild crocodiles live in the caves beneath Ba'dagar. They don't, I've checked. These reports of racism are as of yet unconfirmed, but considering the number of them, I think it's safe to say they're valid enough to warrant investigation."
Better safe than sorry, after all. If Taksaka was a patient sort, he'd have simply benched the matter until the next High Council meeting and brought it up then. While he was patient in many respects, this was certainly not one of them. Problems such as discrimination, prejudice, and fear brought about by rumor and suspicion had to be stamped out at the root. If they were allowed to fester, to spread and sow seeds within the hearts of the people, they'd create a wedge that would be next to impossible to remove. Unfounded suspicion was a disease, one that spread like wildfire and one that lingered through years and generations, if left alone long enough.
"I suspect something might behind the sudden spread of these rumors, but I'm not sure the Dragon Cult itself was responsible. It would take a certain kind of idiot to let word of their recovery spread as widely and as quickly as it has. Then again, I never found Cultists to be the brightest bunch. Regardless, the rumors are worth looking into: And stamping out, one way or another."
Only finally did he deem fit to respond to Silver's question.
"That is where you two come in. I'd like you to pay a cordial visit to Andor and speak with Hilda, and ascertain what she knows of these accounts of discrimination. More importantly, what she's doing about them, and this wave of rumors regarding the Dragon Cult. I know she's heard about it by now: She practically lives at her desk."
Faint praise from a man who sat at his long enough to leave it riddled with scars.
"You may take whatever actions you see fit upon assessing the state of affairs in Andor; I trust you to know your legal boundaries by this point, Alice. Don't cause an incident, and make sure he doesn't either. You will report back to me one way or another with whatever you find. Any questions?"

[attr="class","reptile"]"As you wish, Taksaka-sama, I will do as you ask, and so will Silver."
Alice answered to the order with a slight bow, upholding the professionalism required of her while slightly freaking out on the inside. Before and after becoming the Claw of The Beastfolk, Alice had seen various things, it takes alot to faze her, and meeting the Human Representative was one of the things that could render the girl almost speechless. It's something that normal people wouldn't even dream about.
The Claw reminded herself what she had went through to get to where she is now, and that she had overcome tons worse than meeting the Human Rep and gathering information, okay, maybe not that many things can beat speaking face-to-face with Hilda Brandr, she told herself she could do this. She would do what is asked of her, and hopefully, does it well. This concerns all of the beastfolk race and possibly everyone in Terra Heroum if that rumoured Dragon Cult succeeded in whatever it is that they are plotting. Moreover, the immediate issue concerning racism was something quite personal to Alice.
"If you have any immediate questions, ask now. I'll fill you in on the details later." Alice said to Silverーthe boy probably have no idea what's going onーwhile at the back of her mind, she was already planning the visit to Andor. Travel by land, or by flight? The girl preferred flight of course, but she doesn't know if she could carry Silver's weight. So maybe by land after all, but wouldn't that take too long? Alice mentally sighed, she's going to have a lot of work to do, plus the extra work of bringing Silver. "I'd like to start preparing for this visit as soon as possible."

More importantly, what she's doing about them, and this wave of rumors regarding the Dragon Cult. I know she's heard about it by now: She practically lives at her desk."
Wait, what? Silver panicked a little on the inside, we have to talk with the Human Rep?! But she's so scary!
"You may take whatever actions you see fit upon assessing the state of affairs in Andor; I trust you to know your legal boundaries by this point, Alice. Don't cause an incident, and make sure he doesn't either. You will report back to me one way or another with whatever you find. Any questions?"
Silver felt slightly offended when Taksaka told Alice to make sure he didn't cause an incident, but most of his mind went to thinking of all the possibilities that could happen during this visit to Andor. Any problems or things that he would need to know for sure before he could act.
"As you wish, Taksaka-sama, I will do as you ask, and so will Silver." Alice replied in her usual calm tone, before turning to Silver. "If you have any immediate questions, ask now. I'll fill you in on the details later. I'd like to start preparing for this visit as soon as possible."
"What types of questions should we ask, to not seem rude but getting the most information?" Silver asked. It didn't seem that stupid, so Silver risked asking it.

"Nothing as useless as that one would be a good start."
It wasn't actually that stupid of a question, but Taksaka preferred to nip any amount of stupidity or hand-holding in the bud. He waved his arm, dismissing the matter before Silver could press on even if he meant too. He trusted Alice to know what to ask and how to handle the investigation-- She had a good head on her shoulders, and while Taksaka would never admit it, she was probably one of his favorite subordinates simply because she was efficient, cordial, and had a tendency not to do stupid shit. Silver similarly seemed to have a good head on his shoulders, but Taksaka had interacted with the boy so little he'd hold judgement on his tendencies. That was actually part of why he was sending him with Alice-- He wanted to see how he acted and treated the assignment on his own. That was also part of the reason Taksaka chose not to give him queries to ask Hilda: There would be no point if Taksaka told him exactly what to ask and how to treat the situation.
"Take however much you think you'll need from the treasury for the trip. If you need to requisition anything else, just let the treasurer know. I expect weekly reports."
Taksaka looked down, waving an arm to dismiss them as he refocused his attention on a fresh pair of paperwork in front of him. Much more mundane matters than what was currently being discussed: Economic reports from across Ba'dagar, detailing the difference in price of food imports and exports over the last month. Beneath it were detailed reports of how the change in prices would impact the treasury of the city, and numerous situations of how to spend the additional funds for one purpose or another. Beneath those were a hundred other "recommendations" [aka requests] from patrons across the city about how giving their purpose the extra money would best impact the city as a whole. All quite dull to be honest, but something that had to be done.
"You're dismissed."
It was only after a solid five seconds that he remembered the other issue he needed to deal with.
"Oh, and if Armando is still out there, tell him to go grab Lunch or something. He can talk to me later."
Taksaka ignored the fact it was extensively early in the morning for Lunch. He had mentally moved on from the issue of his new Fang, and had no desire to mentally backtrack to that.
