Presto took a deep breath.
The crowd was calling her... she heard them, clear as day. The air was abuzz with anticipation and the babbling voices of the rabble that had accumulated around the wooden stage were deafening. A portion of the market had been moved to accommodate the platform itself.
She had performed the act more times than she could count, but she was still filled with butterflies. This was part of the reason the little starlet loved performing so much, the lights, the attention, the gaze of the audience that remained locked with her's like she was a hypnotist... and the unshakable feeling of excitement and fear, all mixed up in an intoxicating cocktail of pure excitement.
And then, her cue.
''Please welcome to the stage, the all-singing, all-dancing enchantress of Cydonia! Prestoooo Dupree!'' The announcer yelled.
The girl was instantly wearing a charming smile upon her delicate features as she pranced on stage, tipping her tall hat at the applauding audience. ''Helloooo everyone~ ''She chimed with her usual trademark exuberance. She doubted many of the audience members even knew who she was, but they were waiting to be entertained and that's just what she came to do. ''The names Presto Dupree!' She continued with her usual charisma and a another wink.
''Are you all ready to see something incredible!? Put your hands in the air for me~ ''
She instantly broke out in to her cutesy lovable idol mode, hopping up in down in an attempt to encourage the audience. It worked. She removed her precious hat Allegretto, and placed it on the ground in front of her. The audience looked bewildered.. what exactly was she up to?
''Amazing.. okay.. I want you to give a round of applause to a very special assistant of mine.. where is he?!'' The bard rambled ,doing her usual warm up act.
''Oh Rettoooo~ '' She cooed, tapping her hat gently with her baton she had brought on stage. With a flourish, instruments, her very own orchestra in fact, came tumbling out of the hat and gyrated in the air like Catherine wheels, spinning around the petite conductor like a wayward satellite orbiting the earth. The assembly went wild, and instantly began jumping in anticipation, astounded by the visuals.
''Okay.. Everybody jump! Lets have fuuuuuuun! ''
Presto beamed with a another wink, twisting in place as her music kicked in and she broke in to high energy choreography. The mini-orchestra began to play completely on their own in an astounding display of magical talent. She leaped and twirled, spinning her baton like a dervish, delivering her lines in her usual high-pitched yet alluring, cherubic voice. Although her vocals slipped at some points due to the demanding routine, her enthralling visuals kept her audience hooked and by the end she received a standing ovation. As the backing track began to wind down, with another flourish, her instruments returned to her hat. In a flash, the minstrel disappeared in a flash of fireworks that were concealed within stages floor, making a quick exit stage left.
She laughed to herself. ''Another job well done~'' She stretched with a yawn, she returned to the back stage area and took a quick sit down by the vanity table, resting her eyes. All the late training sessions were beginning to catch up with her. Her manager, Crowley, materialised behind her and awoke her with a fright. The small girl squealed. ''C-Crowley you jerk!'' She yelled, stepping on his foot. ''Hey, that hurt...'' He smiled weakly at the tiny terror. However, she had been put in a good mood due to the performance and smiled joyously. ''Hehe.. You joker you! Sooooooooo~ Crowcrowww~ Tell me how great I did today!? I get a gold star right!? I gave it my all!'' She mused, clambering out of the air as Crowley organized her share of the days earnings in to a small burlap sack. ''Great as always! You really outdid yourself this time!..Although...'' He trailed off. ''Oh you~ Flattery will get you no where with me! Wait.. Although what..? Go on! Spit it out!'' The musician pestered. Presto didn't react well to criticism, and Crowley knew this.. but despite his best attempts to avoid the conversational mine field, he found himself unable to say no the girl as well.. that would cause far more complications and offence. ''Your vocals could do with a litttleeeee bit of tightening.. I-I mean they...'' He muttered nervously. ''WHAAAAAT!? Didn't you see them!? The crowd was going crazy!'' She complained. ''W-Well yeah.. but...'' He attempted to tip-toe around her primadonna fit. ''Whatever! I'm going back to the inn!'' She huffed, claiming the bag of gold as she paraded out in to the alley way behind the back stage area. It was used as a covert escape route for the performers.. Although she wasn't particularly famous, she didn't really want to get swamped by the crowds. ''That Crowley.. He thinks he's some big shot critique does he!? I'd love to see him getting up on that stage- he has the singing skills of a choking donkey! My vocal skills need'tightening' do they!? Ughhhhh.. I'll show him.. I'll get a new manager and when I become the greatest most famous performer in all the land he will get superrrr jealous and all like 'Boo-hoo! If only I didn't mock Presto! My life would of been perfect!'.. Yeah...'' The proud girl droned on to herself as she passed an old antique shop, failing to realise that she was narrating her thoughts out loud. And suddenly, a voice came from the shadows of the alley behind her.
''Hey.. little girl? Are you lost?''
A brute emerged from the inky blackness. Presto was not in the mood to deal with this.. suspicious beast. ''L-Little girl!? I am not a little girl! A-And i'm not lost! I can find my way just fine with out your help...'' She span on her heel and kept walking. Although usually of a sunny and bright disposition, during her prima fits, she adopted a very different, slightly more scathing personality.
''That's an awfully big bag of gold your carrying there...'' The man continued, as two men converged in on Presto from ahead of her, blocking both potential exits. ''Do you want us to take some of your hands?'' The gargantuan men threatened in unison. She stamped her foot. ''Get out of my way you ugly gorillas! Otherwise i'll use force!'' They only laughed at her empty threats. ''O-One more step and i'll scream! I'' scream!'' She hopped in frustration. It didn't stop their advance. ''S-Someone! Pl-please help me!'' She yelled in desperation as the men nearly double her size moved in on her like a group of hyenas on its prey. She was outnumbered.. and most of her attacks depended on range. She was cornered.

It was closing time at Relic and Oddities Kairu had been pretending to polish the same shield for hours, Joran had scolded him for it several times already. Kairu usually replied with sarcastic affirmative and yes sirs, he loved watching Joran's brow furrow in the disbelief of his words. Whenever Joran said things like "I don't know why grandpa hired you." Kairu usually had a witty reply.
"It was all for my devilishly handsome looks, this face is what draws the customers... maybe the ears and tail too.." Kairu would grin at how much it irritated Joran, it had almost become more of a hobby to wind his boss up. Kairu would not trade these moments for anything, as this thought passed through his head his ears twitched to the direction of voices outside. One of the voices sounded quite stressed, Kairu ignored it to begin with then came the words.
"Someone please help me!" Kairu's ears perked up, the high pitched voice of a lady in trouble. He did not consider himself to be the chivalrous type however, he was no the sort to turn down a plea for help. Out the door like a flash before Joran had a chance to say anything, Kairu found himself at a disturbing scene. Three thuggish men were accosting a young girl, Kairu did not hesitate to move in. He brought himself close to the two thugs at the front, using the speed he had built up he shifted it all down to his leg as he brought it up to the temple of the first assaulter. The force was enough to knock the thug into the other and send the two of them down to the ground, Kairu's long white hair settled as the moon shone upon it. He looked over at the other thug, he had a slightly bored look on his face.
"Firstly, three men surrounding such a young lady... You guys need better hobbies. Secondly, why do you make me work like this? All this effort is making me tired, I don't even know if I can be bothered to close the shop down now." Despite the bored look on his face his eyes had a cold look in them directed at the thugs, he looked over to the girl. A warm look came across his face, it was a calming smile on his face and a brightness in his heterochromatic eyes his tail swished left to right.
"Hey, still alive? They have not taken anything from you yet? Go inside the shop." Kairu pointed to the shop. "You will be safe in there." Kairu then proceeded to look back at the other mugger, this time a mischievous grin came across his face. Part of his old self began to surface. "So, you like picking on those who are weaker than you huh? Well then let us have a little fun." With that Kairu summoned forth a tendril of arcane energy, in an attempt to scare the man away.

It was the end of another day at the shop, and here was Joran counting the gains of the day at the counter. After having poured the meager contents of a modest pouch onto the counter-top a slight look of disappointment crossed the man's features.
"Only thirty-one gold pieces for the whole day; and that was after discounting the Hungry Hero's dinner plate."
He looked across the shop to his only employee to see him still polishing that one shield. The one he's been cleaning for the longest time. It was almost like he wasn't even listening to Joran's instruction. He really did wonder what it was that kept his grandfather from tossing this guy out on his ear already. On the bright side, it was Kairu that sells the items in the shop. But having a talent for selling could only get Relics and Oddities so far; as it was, the day's profits were hardly going to cover the expenses of running this place. There were many repairs that had to be accounted for: The holes in the ceiling, the back door that never closed all the way without the lock, and various other little things.
But then came a cry for help and Kairu was running out the door. It took moment of shocked silence for Joran to wrap his head around what was going on. The cry sounded like it had come from right outside; maybe it was coming from the alleyway out back?
A slightly exasperated sigh came to his lips as he hurried his way through the shop to the establishment's back door. As he went, he grabbed up the dagger he kept on one of the rear displays and mused on why they couldn't just let the town guard handle the problem. It wasn't like they were in the worst part of the city. Nonetheless, Kairu was off getting himself into trouble to help, and Joran wasn't about to let his only employee get himself hurt to play rescuer. The only problem now was that the lock was sticking again. With annoyance growing, Joran placed his forehead against the door and stared daggers at the lock as he continued to fuss with the key. He could hear Kairu on the other side of the door, though, so he was going in the right direction.
Finally, the door opened! Carefully opening the door, he could see that a young girl was in the process of being accosted by a small group of men; a group that Kairu had managed to neutralize with the exception of the last who stood nearby with his back to Joran. If anything could be said of the Beastfolk, it was that he was a capable Mage at the right times. It certainly helped when the last man was being distracted by Kairu's threatening magics. Joran didn't really need to guess what was going on; he knew the troubles his father faced with his gambling addiction. These men were the kind that wanted something and were ready to take it by force. Joran was half-tempted to just let his employee handle the whole problem, but he was in a position to help end the issue without killing a man with the magic arts.
Even with the bad lock, it was fortunate that this wooden door did not creak in the state it was in. As quiet as the door, Joran was able to creep his way to the nearby thug and reach a hand to his shoulder. The tough guy turned to the shorter shopkeeper with surprise at the touch, and Joran made the gut-reaction to punch him in the face. He was actually quite surprised to see the thug drop to the ground with the punch; mostly likely the surprise had been in his favor at the moment. That or this guy couldn't take a hit. Either way, Joran could not help but start massaging his hand in an attempt to shake off the pain in his fingers.
"This way, miss. You can get in through here." He shuffled back to prop the door open to allow the girl through and waved his good hand to his Beastfolk companion. "You too, Kairu. Get inside."

Presto retreated, adopting a defensive posture as she twirled her baton. Although, it didn't serve to deter her attackers what so ever. The performer eventually started swinging her bludgeon furiously in an attempt to stave off her attackers, however it was to no avail., Presto wasn't watching her footing and stepped on a loose paving slab that jutted at a weird angle from the uneven ground, and in a rather embarrassing display, she toppled over on to her butt. She screeched shrilly as her muggers started moving in on her like a pack of lions on an injured gazelle.
The girl expected the worst.. but through her shut eyes, she heard the grunt of one of the thugs. ' She shuffled back in to a corner as another thug hit the pavement. Curious to see what the heck was going on, she opened her eyes wide.. and she noticed a mysterious, white haired figure stood in the moonlight a short distance way. He was most likely her rescuer. The silver ribbons of moonlight illuminated his silhouette.. ''M-My guardian hero? A knight in shining armour? OH-MY-GOD!'' The minstrel was instantly on her feet, hopping up and down with the excitement and fervour of a child. That apathetic expression.. that unkempt appearance.. Every aspect of him screamed 'Badass' to the petite young woman.
Her fantasies started carrying her way as she jigged on the spot and squealed, As another gentleman who seemingly materialised out of no where dispatched the third and final mugger, one of the other attacks began to stir. He rose, looking somewhat confused.. but Presto would give him no time to recover, as she administered a hefty thwack of her silver baton right to the skull. She felt an undeniable sense of satisfaction as she dealt the blow. And then, her innocent pink eyes met her heroes. The musician whizzed towards him with almost superhuman speed. ''Sir Knighttttt~'' She chimed in her melodic tone. And, as she drew closer, she saw them.. the pair of fluffy little ears atop his head, the tail that was swaying with delight and excitement behind him. ''K-Kyaaaaa! SO CUTE!'' She hopped, attaching herself to his shoulders, caressing his shock of white hair. ''My herooo! This is perfect! Not only is my saviour a battle hardened gentleman but also a the most fluffy snuggggglyyyy thing I have EVER seen! Coochieeeee coo~ Kya! Those pure white ears of yours~ So flufffffyyy and cuteee~ I want my own! Ooh and that tail~ Aw! Look! Its wagging~ Aw! My hero must be so happy to of rescued such a beautiful young maiden!? Right? RIGHT!?'' The girl spoke at a mile a minute, her previous anger almost completely evaporating. ''O-Oh my..I'm sorry!.. I got a little carried away.'' She giggled, trailing off as a small sweat drop beaded on her delicate brow. ''..I-I'm so unprepared for this! A meeting with a handsome stranger who saved my life!? Oh sweet surrender! Its like i'm in a romance novel! Not that i'm saying we're like that or anything... HAHA! That would be crazy! I mean we just met and all that and of course even I have boundaries even with someone as snuggly as you- Oh my! How could I say something so embarrassing!? Whatever whatever whatever! You saved me...so..um... Thanks...'' She smiled sweetly, blushing profusely. And while although she was a little shy about her rarely spoken words of thanks, she spoke so fast it was unlikely that he caught a word of what she was saying. She leapt up like an over-excited rabbit and planted a kiss on his cheek. ''It's not every day you get a kiss from a cute girl like me~ So appreciate it!'' She winked teasingly, playing with the beastfolk.
Presto then span on her heel and finally got to address her other saviour. As he held the door open for her, she kissed his cheek. Presto had absolutely zero belief in the concept of 'personal space'. ''And you too are a trueeee hero~ And a gentleman too!'' She chirped, ever jubilant despite her somewhat traumatic experience. The performer walked with a skip in her step through the open door and in to the dusty shop- putting complete trust in total strangers as she entered the beat-up old building without fear. ''Wow..what is this place..? Its so dusty.. and old.. Kinda like my Grandpa...'' She reflected as she glanced at the decaying furniture and crammed shelves.

Kairu stood there as the onslaught began, his eyebrow twitching slightly as he was being petted. What was he some household mutt? No! He was a proud wolf, she was just like all the other girls who came to the shop. They rarely bought anything they just stared and giggled, so tiresome. This was all too much work, he wished he could go in and nap. He had to admit though this one was cuter than his other fans, probably a performer from the look of the instruments she was carrying. Kairu gave a raised eyebrow to Joran, when the girl stopped he sighed. Then taking out a piece of paper from his pocket, he moved his finger across the paper signing his name on it.
"Here you go, you can brag to your friends about it. Just like all the other girls do." Kairu then wandered into the shop, when she came inside her initial comment made his brow furrow. "This building has character... Man.. I save you and you insult my home." He was a bit upset by it, however he soon dismissed it. Proudly hopping up onto the counter. He put on his best showmanship and announced loudly. "Welcome to Relic and Oddities, finest antique shop in all of Terra Heroum. Anything takes your fancy, for a pretty lady such as yourself only 25 gold!" He put on his winning smile baring his fangs slightly. He then dropped into a relaxed position on the counter and began to fall asleep, in a rather narcoleptic fashion.

This was certainly a spirited young lady that they had come to rescue. No sooner had she knocked one of the other thugs out with a baton had she thrown herself to Kairu and began to dote childishly about his features. It was a very strange sight, but not one the shopkeeper was unfamiliar with. As he recalled, young girls would routinely react to the Beastfolk in this way. Most of those girls were younger than this particular example, however. Either way, it was most important that she was safe now.
Of particular note was when the girl came by him to enter his shop. Joran was in no way oblivious to the affections of the opposite gender, but it surprised him slightly at how affectionate this young lady could be; not to portray her in an ill light, of course. His reaction was to put a hand to his cheek as she bounced along into Relics and Oddities and he put thought to her words. She had called him a hero; despite what he had just done for her, he didn't really see himself as anything of the sort. As far as he was concerned, he was just the owner of a small, aging shop. However, he had just punched a thug out cold. At least, that's what he thought seeing as how the man at his feet had yet to stand back up. Certainly an unconscious man if he had seen one. Once Kairu had re-entered the shop, he knew it was time to put this moment of glory behind him.
It was always easier to lock this door than it was to unlock it. All he had to do was pull it closed and hold it firmly in place as he twisted the old iron key into its lock. After pocketing the key and carefully placing the weapon he had luckily not had to use onto a display shelf, he turned his attention to Kairu and their new guest.
"He's right. This place may be old, but it has a history to it. Funny you should say that, too; I had inherited the place from my Gramp when he passed."
Joran walked around the counter to take the seat he had been using earlier. The only issue he faced now was that his one and only employee was reclining on the desk. It was a minor annoyance, but it was one that he lucky enough to get used to.
"But more seriously, that was a close call, miss. Would be improper of me to ask what you were doing out there alone at night?" This was something that Joran was quite curious about. She certainly seemed young now that he could get a good look at her in the light of the shop. It was rather late for a girl to be out there all alone when the seedier sorts were wandering the streets.

Presto chuckled rather haughtily at the offer of his signature. Honestly, her pride meant she wouldn't accept signatures from anyone who wasn't non-hero status. ''Hmhmhm~ Thanks.'' She muttered somewhat sarcastically, stuffing it in the pocket of her dress for the trash later. It was a real chore for the girl to not burst out in a ramble about her musical accolades, so she held her tongue so as not to tick off the beastman even more. She gazed around the shop, waving her arms apopgetically. ''Oh no no no! You misunderstand meee~ I meant it was pretty and ancient and really really dusty- But not like a bad dusty, okay maybe.. but whatever! I mean it looks like some oooooooold library where some warlock would live or something! He'd be all like 'WHO DARES ENTER MY SANCTUARY OF ISOLATIONNN' And zap~ You'd be dead!... But anyway, my point is that this seems like the kinda place my grandpa would really like.. it is kinda like his place.'' She reflected, a sudden feeling of melancholy gripping her heart. She missed him.. more than anything. Presto still felt like he needed his guidance, his help.. but all he left for her where those words and his pendant.
Remember Presto.. The sea's may dry, the fire's may fade, but the symphony of life will always go on. Keep on reaching for the highest note... there is no limit to what you can do with music.
His instructions had been cryptic. The performer was just wandering aimlessly trying to progress.. but she had no idea what exactly she wanted. Life really wasn't as black and white as it first seemed. She shook her head, dispelling the stray thoughts in her mind. The other silver haired gentleman, who looked a little unkempt with his stubble, had actually inherited the shop from his grandpa. She had sort of inherited her business she guessed... ''Oh,so its a family run store huh? That's so cute!'' She chimed. ''Wow reaaaalllllly!? Only 25 gold!? You are too kind~'' She pranced about the shop, overturning each corner of the antique shop in search of something that caught her fancy. In a crowded corner she unearthed a somewhat ancient, yet beautiful violin. The strings were worn and rusted with time, but she was pretty sure she could restore it. Presto skipped with a hum up to the counter and dumped the violin on the sleeping beastman to bring him back to conciousness. ''Wow its beautiful!...Are you really sure I can take this for 25 gold?'' She winked. Of course, she now she had a deal waved in her face she wouldn't take any ,less. The guy who seemed like the owner of the shop asked her what she was doing out so late.. I guess that made sense. ''Well~ I'm a performer! I had a concert late and then I was walking back to the inn and those scary men appeared- I was just about to scare them off with my magic but you know.. I didn't wanna tire myself out or anything..'' She blinked, not wanting to appear weak.

Kairu's ears perked up as the young lady said she was a performer, his lips broke out into a satisfied smile. He had been right about his assumption, however a concert was something he had not expected. She was cute and a celebrity, not that he had heard of her, this night was full of surprises. He smiled as she mentioned it was a family run business, sure it was run by the family but so far Kairu had done a lot of the business side. Joran was still fairly new to it all, he could be forgiven of it, Kairu knew that Joran would make a fine merchant one day. He had a level head about him, also a natural business sense one that rivalled even Kairu's mentor.
"Nice to meet you, I am Kairu and he is Joran. Do you have a name that is as pretty as yourself?" Kairu spoke a lot softer now they were indoors, his eyes opened the red contrasting the blue both of them almost seemed to glow as he looked over at her. Despite the bored look on his face those eyes seemed to hold a warmth in them, Kairu pretended to be disinterested but there was always a lot more to him. Very few people saw it in him, he suspected Joran had some inklin however small it was. The old man saw right through Kairu from day one, Kairu had been on the road before then never staying in the same place. It was very unexpected, but he came to like this place while working for the old geezer.
Kairu slid from the counter to give Joran some room, landing on his feet with almost cat like precision. The thought of a cat made him shudder slightly, he moved over to the shield he was polishing earlier. He carefully lifted it up off the ground, he looked at it for a moment a slight feeling of nostalgia came across him. His expression took that of fondness, the old man had treated him kindly and Kairu intended to repay that kindness by watching over this shop. He had to find a way to make enough money so that Joran could maintain ownership of this place, Kairu was willing to do anything for this shop and for the old man's memory. He placed the shield back onto one of the shelves carefully, he then sat down where it was and made himself comfortable.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, young lady," he added to complete their introduction. With a quick recounting of the gold, he took in the building around him. She was right; this place looked like it could be the home of some sorcerer in the old stories he had heard in his youth.
So, the girl was a performer? When Joran took a moment to look her over again in the lighting of the shop, he realized that he could see it in her choice of clothing. He could also tell she was rather young, but at this point that was somewhat moot.
What was of slightly more interest to him was Kairu's mildly uncalled discount. Twenty-five gold for anything in the shop? But the young performer had already chosen something for herself, so there was no reason to not honor that particularly rushed agreement. He remembered that particular violin; it had been in the stock for as long as he knew. Of course, his employee almost ruined it by moving once the instrument had been placed on him, but the shop-keep was able to make the quick move of scooping it up. A look-over of the object ensured that it was still suited for sale. In a manner of speaking.
"Ah yes, I recognized this," he mused before setting the piece back to the counter, "It most certainly will be only twenty-five gold. That is definitely quite the deal for this; after all, this particular instrument was used in the orchestra that played at the coronation of the Hero-King himself. While some renovation will be in order, it is certainly a worthy part of any collection."

The beastman flashed his wolfish grin and she almost felt transparent- like he could see right through her. The young girl assumed he had probably already inferred her occupation anyway- it didn't take a first class detective to do that anyway considering her pastel blue uniform and large marching band hat, which was indicative of her job. Although, Presto was glad she had actually caught the boys attention now... he had seemed almost narcoleptic before, falling asleep on the little performer mid-conversation. He truly did have an unusual appearance.. he had those odd, two-toned eyes. Something about it was just so..alluring...He tossed a slightly flirty introduction her way, which raised her already rather big ego. ''Me? The name's Presto Dupree! Performer, musician, singer, songwriter, dancer, and ultimate music mage!''She chimed gleefully with twice her usual exuberance. ''Soooo..Your Kairu? An equally cute name for an equally cute hero!'' She pranced, squealing on the spot before nearly leaping up on the counter and embracing the man again. ''And its a pleasureeee to make your acquaintance too, Mr. Joran.'' Presto bowed respectfully, mimicking nobility with a faux-high class accent. Kairu moved from his perch atop the counter which finally allowed her to make her purchase. Looking at the violin in the light really did show off its fine, if not faded craftsmanship. It was adorned in these swirling gold patterns that cascaded down the violin- it truly looked fit for a king! ''W-Wow! It really is valuable then! I'll take it~ I can change the strings.. but I'll ask my manager about getting the rest all finished up~'' She smiled with a nod, giggling softly She was pretty excited about her new purchase... it would make a great addition to her show.

"Presto huh? Sounds like a name full of life." Kairu felt his own ego rise when he got called cute, of course he was the most handsome in all of Terra Heroum this girl had a good eye. He was suprised to hear she was a mage, it always interested him when someone had the gift that mana provided. The violin she had chosen was indeed a good deal, he was suprised Joran was happy to let that one go. Perhaps he had come to the same thinking Kairu had about discounting it for this girl, then again perhaps not maybe he really was just being generous. When she called Joran Mr however, Kairu snickered at first then burst into full blown almost childish laughter.
"Ha~ Mr Joran Hahaha~ He is younger than me, and he is the mr. Hahahaha~" Kairu spoke between laughter and breaths, he began wiping the tears that were forming on the corner of his eyes. After he calmed down, Kairu then turned to the look outside. It was getting darker out there and it did not sit well with Kairu to leave this young girl to wander the streets, even if she could take care of herself. He spun on his heel and looked at the girl, putting on his most gentlemanly act he could almost as if to mock her earlier faux noblewoman act.
"How about an escort back to where ever you are staying? I would be more than happy to oblige, I suppose Joran could come too if he wanted to. I insist." Kairu would not take no for an answer, it really would plague his conscience if he sent her out there alone. She had also made a purchase from them, that made her a valuable customer in Kairu's eyes. He did not know whether Joran would come or not, I mean Kairu was more than capable of looking after her but a second set of hands never went a miss. He looked at the man waiting for his answer, he did not wait for presto's answer as he would be escorting her either way.

It was a funny thought for Joran to be referred to as a 'mister'. Before coming into ownership of the shop, he would never never have considered himself worth the respect. He had, after all, only been a laborer before inherited this old place. Still, he sweet little accent was quite cute and he couldn't help but let it slide.
"Oh, it most certainly is. As I've said, twenty-five is a great deal for this piece of Terran history."
Kairu's laughter served to distract from making the deal. While he was the younger of the two, Joran was still essentially the Beastfolk's employer. This made somewhat more the 'Mister' of them, at least in his mind. Either way, his employee brought up a good point. It seemed to really be getting late in hour, and the young lady would have to get to what she called home for the night. Given the state the alleyway was in tonight, he wasn't sure if he would tag along or remain to watch the shop. It did take a little thought, but he was sure he would have to make the safer choice in this.
"I suppose Kairu is right; after that little alley fiasco, it would best if you had someone take you home tonight. I'll stay here to close up the shop. Don't stay out too long, Kairu; The door is locking in the hour. I'd rather not take chances tonight."

''Well..I am full of life! I'd be no fun to watch if I wasn't~'' The young girl chuckled with her ever present smile. This violin really was a steal.. she almost felt guilty taking it off their hands. Almost. It was a little unusual to see the former mystique of her saviour reduce to childish laughing, but it was entertaining and a fresh change of pace none the less. So many people were so serious now a days.. and Presto only ever got to deal with these types in her line of work. Accepting the violin from Joran, she tipped her hat at him and removed it with a flourish. She stuck the violin inside of the large hat, which could contain more than physically possible. She withdrew her old violin and set it out on the counter. ''Since your giving me this for so cheap, take my old one. I'm pretty much guaranteed to be a biiiiig star one day, so you can sell it on for a high price. Collectors items and all that.'' She chuckled. ''Oopsie~ You'll have to forgive me since he seems just so much more responsible and mature than you.'' She giggled like a school girl, a mischievous glint in her deep pink eyes. ''Just kidding~' Presto affirmed the fact that she was joking, since he couldn't tell that she was playing with him earlier and she didn't want to come off as rude even though to be quite honest, she was. Time was flowing quickly and the last strands of light were fading- it would probably be best to head for the inn now. Crowley was probably worried about her since she hadn't made it back yet. ''Oh wow.. It is getting late isn't it? I guess you can tag along with me if you wannaa~ I mean every star has to have her entourage right?'' She folded her arms proudly. Presto walked over to the door and opened it for Kairu. ''I'm staying at an inn near here so lets go! And buhbye Mr. Joran~ It really was a pleasure to meet you!'' She nodded her head in respect before exiting in to the alleyway.

"Responsibilities is what forms wrinkles if that is what makes a mister then he can keep it" Kairu made his way over to the door, he looked at presto one more time. Leaning in close to her, standing right up against her he whispered softly in her ear. "Don't get too full of yourself little girl, I am not about to become one of your adoring fans. So don't treat me like them, fame doesn't get you everything." He backed up and flashed a wry smile, he held out his arm for her to take. "Well then Miss Dupree, shall we?" Kairu put on his faux gentleman act, he was used to people attempting to play him what this girl failed to realise is he played the game better.
He waited for her to take his arm before walking out into the cold night, he was wearing his long black coat that night it kept him quite warm. The night was beautiful, the moonlight shone on Kairu's silver hair giving it an ethereal glow. The colour in his eyes shone brighter than ever in the dark night, he kept his eyes firmly ahead keeping an eye out for any potential trouble however he seemed quite relaxed. "So why performing then? of all the professions in the world?" He asked her inquisitively, he decided that they might as well pass the time on their way back to her inn. They came to a rather ornate looking fountain, Kairu paused for a moment to look at it. He had passed this fountain so many times but rarely did he see it in use, it was a rather nice sight in the dark low lit streets. The shimmering of the moonlight off the water made the whole street almost seem bright while retaining it's dark feel.

So a trade of violins it was. It was quite possible that this girl could one day be one of the biggest names in performance. "The pleasure was mine, miss."When the pair had made their way into the night, Joran went about his business tending to his shop. First was to put the new violin in its place; being a traded piece, it seemed fitting to leave it in the former spot of its counterpart. It certainly did look well-used. Sometimes, he forgot that each piece in the shop had its own history to it. Some of their histories were quite heroic. The dagger he had taken up earlier in the evening had been a man's only defense in protecting his home from goblins, for instance. Some of them had sadder tales to them, though. He had heard that the shield on the nearby shelf -that his only employee spent the whole night cleaning- had been an unappreciated final gift from someone's armor-smithing uncle. There was a little of the good and a little of the bad in this old place, but it was his grandfather's legacy. A legacy that his father would most likely not appreciate the same way that Joran would. His father would have spent every coin of profit on gambling. It was better this way. After a final inventory and a quick cleaning over the whole of the shop, Joran took a seat at the counter one last time for the night to wait for Kairu's return. One extra counting of gold later, he glanced to the shelf beneath the counter-top and saw that old leather-bound book that had belonged to his grandfather. He had only glanced over it once, but he knew enough that it mostly served to catalogue the rumors heard from traveling storytellers and drunk men. With a sigh, Joran took the book from its place and opened it to a random page. Kairu really did work the shop every day, didn't he? Something Joran had taken for granted, at the very least. Good to know there were little nuggets of insight mixed into the stories that Gramps had enjoyed so much. But, given the financial troubles of Relics and Oddities, the notion of treasure waiting to be taken was tempting. Not that it can be helped at the moment, though. What if some of these stories are true? He didn't have anything better to do until Kairu returned, so he settled himself into his seat and whiled away the time turning the pages. Exit: Joran
