From above, angry snarls and steely eyes descend on the battlefield as two more feline faces present themselves on the cliff. The battle ensues below. He did not have enough hands for this farce. Ruse turned on his heels at the sound of a small body hitting the dirt, pulling the tips of his claws from the mountain lion's shoulder just as their human ally drove in his knife. What is it now~ he all but growled, but he knew already. It was the girl. He decided at once that the animal atop her would be the better target for his rage. It took several seconds to clear the distance between them, and Ruse's body hit the mountain lion like an armored carriage. Sword and claws both drove into the creature's side, shoving it from its prey and several feet backwards with a bestial huff. Ruse didn't look down, but rather trusted that the girl would get up again. She would, or she'd die: there was only so far he could go to keep these people alive, after all. He pressed the attack. - - - It has been a gambit by the fierce mercenary for sure, and though he held the animal's advance for a moment, but another-the first who'd attacked him at the battle's outset-would strike him from the flank, and in a moment he was under a pile of claws and teeth. Meanwhile, the now bloodied first assailant (F) would shrink away in pain, putting some distance between itself and its human attacker before leaping back in on its new target. The nearby blinded feline roared and backpedaled, swinging wildly at the stinging substance that filled the air in front of it, and the single, unattended mountain lion made a stealthy turn back toward the wounded Kairu. OOC: Once again ^^ leaving the particulars of the attacks to you guys. Michi <3 you should be able to act on your post, since your paralysis would have been spent last post. Mountain Lions. It was clearly not Kairu's day, he had only just managed to recover from the onslaught that had beset him a mere moment ago. The healing magic had come from the elf, he reminded himself to thank her if they made it out alive. The attack had shaken his senses slightly he was unaware of the lion creeping up behind him, it clawed right across his back leaving a sizeable wound on him. He was unable to do anything, he was too dazed from the previous attack he simply took the attack and gasped as the air was knocked from him. He managed to rebalance himself he was still dizzy and unable to do anything, his eyes however noticed the two lions on the cliffs. He yelled to the rest of the group. "We have two more up on the cliff! Watch your heads!"

Unfortunately for Joran, the worst possible thing came out of his attack; the beast was now singling him out. Next thing he knew, here it came leaping onto him and taking him to the ground. The pain he felt in his chest as its claws began to dig in him was more than he had imagined it would be. With only panic in his mind, the best he could think to do was take his dagger to the beasts neck in two sloppy, vicious stabs. A pained roar came from the lion, and it seemed that Joran had won. It was a good feeling; at least, until the now-dead lion then collapsed on top of him, pinning him to the ground. This was quite the unfair turn of events. Now here he was, trapped beneath an animal's corpse and having to find his way out of it. For the time being, it looked like he was stuck here, unable to move with the lower half of his body pinned under a freshly defeated opponent.

Her hand moved wildly, searching the ground frantically for her baton. Unfortunately, her small amount of muscle mass was failing to hold back the lion, and its jaws slowly converged towards her neck. In a flash, Ruse was upon them, and had dislodged the lion from its prey. The little songstress was up in a flash, her pain dissipating with the adrenaline rush. ''Oh the audacity! I'm going to make you regret that!'' Presto snarled with more anger than the lion could ever muster, twirling her baton like a dervish as she rushed towards the lion at a blinding speed, hitting it in retaliation. And that was all she wrote for the little lion, who crumbled and hit the ground. It was fight or flight now.
In an attempt to clear her head, she spun around on her heel to get a better look at the encounter. Kairu was being attacked. ''K-Kairu! That's it! Strands of symphony come forth! Alitissimo Libero!'' Presto yelled with steadfast conviction, sending another gold music note through the air towards the lion that attacked the beastman, her attack makings its mark in a roar of sound.

the night away | [attr="class","fuck"] Actions: Dodged Pounce from Mountain Lion D, Attacked Lion D for 10 Damage with Scimitar tag // Lorrevan Ruuz, Kairu Ao, Joran, Presto Dupreenotes // Current Mana: 0/1, will restore 1 mana at the start of next turn | Geez this lion was persistant! On the bright side, her allies seemed to be handling the others well enough for a given value of 'well'. By the looks of things though there was one lion down, so that was good! Wait, scratch that; two were down. The second was marked by shouting from the girl and hit the ground with a thud. The guy she had healed was still taking a beating but it was lessened now.
"Let's do this, fluffy butt!" she smirked as she moved in for the hit, narrowly sidestepping the follow-up pounce. This put her in a good position to strike, and so she made a large vertical swing with her scimitar. It left quite the gash in the side of the lion, who let out a howl of pain as its blood began leaving its body. Aaliyah took a quick hop or two back to avoid staining herself in the fresh lion blood, but her confidence was obvious. They were doing well despite the odds, after all!

Ruse could feel the heavy panting from the one Mountain Lion's throat in his armored hand as he held its great weight at bay as best he could, turning his face from its flailing claws and feeling a swipe make it through a gap in his armor. He struggled to free his blade but grunted in pain as another attacker fell on him from above, sword-holding fist pressed against its chest to keep its claws from his neck and instead along his arm. His blood dripped in the dirt. - - Elsewhere on the battlefield, the intensity and unpredictability of the battlefield was beginning to settle, and the feral, violent energy of the Mountain lion horde was giving way. Each was tied to their own prey, perhaps ready to waver but for some greater force than their nature that gripped them. They seemed to be growing more reactive, lashing out where they could, and one struck with magic locked eyes with young Presto, its attention obviously diverted from the beastman. Another, a gash in its side, shrunk away from the energetic Aaliyah, reeling with pain, and instead made for more vulnerable prey. The two newcomers from above had also descended: one upon the Mercenary Ruse and another making for the human male left pinned and in the open. OOC: Not much to this round ^^ Looks like we have the upper hand here; might have to do something about that. Mountain Lions. B (25hp) --> Blinded (1 turns left) No action. Kairu was reaching the end of his tether with these lions, he called forth his mana as he fired off arcane tendrils in every direction striking all the lions around them. He side stepped as one of the lions moved to attack him, he struck it with one of the arcane tendrils also. It yelped in surprise as the energy struck it, the smell of singed fur seemed to permeate the air around them. Kairu looked around to see how the others were holding up, the fight seemed to be going there way now. Kairu was unsure why he felt that this was not the end of their problems however, the hairs of his neck stood upright. His eyes darted around to make sure that they had not missed anything, what exactly had whipped these lions up into a frenzy?! They seemed as if they wanted to run, at the same time however something compelled them to keep fighting. Clearly the rumours of something driving them to action was true, these were not the actions of beasts running on instinct... Was it fear? What exactly would they fear though?!

Moving this dead thing off of himself was a real trial of strength. Luckily, Joran felt he was making some progress. From the corner of his eye, though, he made out a shape moving towards him; it was another of those damnable lions! Being unable to defend himself at the moment, a large clawed paw slammed into the man's chest, knocking air from his chest as the beast let loose a vicious roar into his face. "Oh, come on," was Joran's almost breathless exclamation while pain flowed across his chest and through his whole body. Worse than being trapped, was being trapped at the mercy of some rabid animal. Why were there so many of them? This couldn't be just some hunting pack; something had to be wrong here.

She spun on her heel, prancing from foot to foot in victory, twirling her baton. ‘Who is the strongest of them all!? The greatest performer Presto will make all her foes fall!’’ She sang to herself, caught in a bubble of elation as she felled a lion. However, they couldn’t afford to let up yet. A lion came charging on Presto’s flank, and she jumped nimbly, avoided the initial strike before it charged suddenly, knocking her to the ground once more. The musician lodged her metal baton between its jaws, preventing it from biting down on her. ‘’Not again! Get off me!’’ She kicked her legs frantically, but the lion meant business this time. It’s ferocity was renewed due to its dead friends. The beast put all of its body weight down on her frail form, crushing the small girl under it.

we're Gonna dance
the night away | | It seemed the lion had finally given up its attack on her. May be it was luck or may be she was just too much for it to handle, but it decided to attack someone else instead. Aaliyah enjoyed the moment of not being assailed by kitty claws, but it did mean more lions to attack the others. With herself now free to attack as necessary though, that also became less of a concern.
The lone guy in armor was probably fine for right now, she was more worried about the squishy guys that didn't. Eyeing the lion that had been attacking her until now, she charged with her scimitar and gave a good solid slice into its torso. With that, she hoped may be it'd finally fall.
"That's one," she remarked, turning to face the lion attacking the small musician. With an energetic smile she bounced on her feet and made yet another charge on the other lion, bringing down the blade of her scimitar onto its neck to hopefully finish things up.
"And that's two! Let's keep up this pace!" |
