OOC: I was listening to this while posting the setting of the thread. kiwi6.com/file/udpmis1pfa :3
Kairu had just finished dispatching one such animal, the chicken flapped about as he let it go out into the street. It clucked relentlessly as it darted off down the street. Kairu was exhausted already and the morning had only just begun, it was a busy time for Merchants as spring was beginning to blossom forth. People would be coming out of the woodwork of winter and even though they would all be out for a bit of shopping very few would have need for what they had for sale. He sighed as he saw Joran hard at work as always, it was on days like this that the shop needed to be manned by the both of them. Kairu was glad he had managed to get plenty of napping in the day before, he needed his beauty sleep. "How else am I supposed to maintain my good looks?" He mumbled to himself, a pouting look on his face.
Kairu walked over to the shelves where a group of customers were trying to lift down a dusty old book, with a flick of his wrists the book came off the shelf levitating in the air as he lowered it to them. He moved on through the shop, pointing out the jewellery section for a fat merchant man and his wife. Finally after a relentless onslaught he had managed to make it through the crowded shop towards Joran. All the money they made today would have to last them for most the year, a lot of it would go on the taxes for the shop. Kairu grinned at Joran his usual wry grin when business was flowing.
"Seems like business has picked up once again friend." Kairu seemed in high spirits today, even if he would rather of been napping. The shop still meant the world to him, the old man had found Kairu drifting and gave him a place to call his own. This was his home, Kairu looked around the shop rather proudly, at the same moment a customer approached Joran to ask for the price of a golden ring shaped into a snake swallowing it's own tail. Kairu left it to Joran, the man was a capable salesman at this point, at least he was good enough not to make Kairu embarrassed to call him the boss.
A bustling market place, such was this part of the Merchant district of Andor. The noble home city of the human race was alive with people, various sorts were about the street trying to sell their wares for a good price. Around the street everyone was basking in the sun that smiled upon the city that day, children darted amongst the streets outside. Surrounding the edge of this large market square various guild houses, taverns and shops crammed together towered above the small army of market stalls. Various roads, side streets and alleyways fed into this large cobblestone square. On the corner of such a alleyway, a small aged shop sat. There was a small hole in the roof, a sign hung down from above the door it read. "Relic and Oddities" The shop had certainly seen better days the windows looked dusty, the door seemed to be on it's last legs and nothing but dust particles seemed to flow out from within. On closer inspection, various treasures and old pieces of items were dotted about. Many walked past the shop not giving it a second glance, those that entered were usually just there to browse. Some street performer across the way were playing music, a group of flutes sang through the air of the entire market square giving an almost harvest festive feel to the entire place. Inside the shop however, the many people browsing were all chattering almost competing with the sound of the flutes. The interior of the shop looked just as aged as the outside, it was also vastly cluttered with the largest collection of jewels, tat and various other things. The customers were just as diverse, students from the mage academy in dracon littered the scene, families and their kids, various men and women of various economical backgrounds and also the occasional stray animal that had lost it's owner. |
